Thank you all for your recommendations. Given the direct line of sight requirement, I suspect that my notepad will be my solution.

I've done some searching for a GPS unit on my Nikon D750 and I'm not comfortable with the results. Does anyone have a GPS unit on their D750 and would you recommend it? I'm going to Africa in the Fall and I would like to know know where I took the picture as we will be making a number of stops. Thanks in advance for any help.

Prg, I just ordered a simple monopod to go with my new Tamron 150-600 mm G2 lens and my Nikon D750. I have a good tripod and will bring it; but I suspect that it won't work in the safari truck unless I get lucky and get the front seat. Since I can't count on that I have the monopod and a bean bag as backups. Did you use any lens or camera covers during your photo shoots to prevent dust from getting into your equipment? If you were to do it over again would you get those type of covers? I leave in Lake Wales, FL. Any chance you could give me a call on my cell: 561-512-2961. I would like to discuss your experience and listen to any recommendations. Thanks.

I will be taking a safari in South Africa during September 2017. Should I be concerned about dust during the trail rides? If yes, what type of camera and lens covers do you recommend?

I started with the D70, then bought the D7000 and now I have the D750. From a learning standpoint you will have a large curve either going to the D750 or a Canon; but if you have good or even fair Nikon lenses your initial investment is not as great. I always bought FX lenses so I was able to migrate easily. Even if you have DX lenses, there are settings on the D750 to use in DX mode. There is no comparison between the D70 and the D750. It is a night and day difference. If you go with the D750 get a package that includes 24-120mm f/4.0 fixed lens. It is a very good lens, not professional as the f/2.8 lenses are; but certainly VERY good for 95% of the time and at a fraction of the cost. The extended ISO range on the D750 is simply mind blowing, allowing you to take great pictures in low light. In many cases this makes up for difference of an f/2.8 and f/4.0. I would also suggest that you get a User Guide for the D750 as the Nikon User Guide is anything but easy to use. The Nikon guide has everything you need to know but it does not provide it in a user friendly way. Good luck with your decision.

I own a Nikon D750. It takes wonderful pictures and is very good in low light and outdoors. I like taking pictures of birds in flight and this camera is very good for that. There is a lot to learn, however. You can use Auto mode and let the camera select all of the settings; but to fully utilize the functions of the camera you will need a reference manual like Darrell Young's Mastering the Nikon D750. The Nikon's User Guide has a lot of information but it is hard to follow and doesn't flow very well. If you have deep pockets then I would strongly recommend you researching all of the Nikon f/2.8 lenses. These are Nikon's best lenses. If you are like me the Nikon 24-120 mm f/4 is a very good lens and it is usually packaged with the D750 at a good discount. There is one known problem with the camera, the shutter can stick. There are a list of serial numbers with this problem available from Nikon in case you are thinking about buying a refurbished one. I had the problem and my camera was not on that list. Nikon was very good at fixing the camera. It took me about three weeks from the time I shipped it to when I received the camera back. I took an extended warranty after that experience. I have no experience with Canon; but many of my friends love their cameras. Good luck with your decision.

My D750 just developed the shutter problem so well documented. My serial number was not on the recall list. My question is: Has anyone ever had to replace the shutter more than once? I still have the option of getting an extended warranty from Nikon and depending on your answers I may get the extension. Thanks in advance for any responses.

I just came back from a trip to Sicily. Night time photography is a whole new world with high ISO. I have the Nikon D750 and it can go up to 52,000. I took pictures in dark churches and it popped the colors. Same with evening and night pictures of mountains and caves. I need to review and edit before I post any. I was amazed at the difference between the Nikon D7000 and the Nikon D750. In other posts the Nikon D500 has an even broader range. I was also surprised at the quality of my wife's iPhone 6 pictures. It does very well is reasonable light.

Danac: If you crop the D750 image to look like the D7200, I suspect the D750 image will be sharper. That would be the true test.

I had a similar problem with the D750. Call Nikon support. They were VERY helpful and fixed the problem.

I have a Nikon 70-300 mm with VR lens; but not the Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 with VRII. I'm having a hard time justifying the price. The highest I will go is $1500.00 including shipping and a 10 day return with full refund. I will pay for shipping the return if necessary. Don't want to appear unreasonable; but I'm not really sure what this will buy me. The only thing it offers is lower light capability and probably better sharpness; but I won't know until I try it. Hope you understand.

This is the older version since you did not say VRII. IMO, at that price you are really not interested in selling. If the price was right I would be interested in buying.

I'm not interested in the whole package; but I might be interested in the 70-200 f/2.8 VR. Are you interested in selling separately?

I'm going to Italy this summer and I called my insurance broker and she said that I was covered unto $5,000.00 even if stolen in Italy. You would need a police report.
