Nikon D500 Wifi

I just purchased the Nikon D500 the other day and am loving it. Found it "in stock" at Unique Photo in Fairfield, NJ. The only issue I have is that I can't seem to figure out how to set-up the wifi to my smartphone. There is nothing I can find on how to do it in the manual. I have done it before on other Nikons without issues and I consider myself fairly tech savy. Any help from the UHH community would be most appreciated.

I had a similar problem with the D750. Call Nikon support. They were VERY helpful and fixed the problem.

Do not have the d500, but have the d7200. You need to download the Wireless Mobility Utility App first on your phone/iPad. Then the direction will work.

Thank you but i have the wmu on my iohone/ipad that is not the issue. Dont think I was terribly clear. The issue is enabling the wifi on the actual camera.

WI-FI - you need an additional piece of equipment.
What you are talking about/thinking about is the Bluetooth facility.
For that you need to do is down load the Snapbridge app from Nikon into your smartphone. I have done that and made some 1/2 half of first- time tries. It works.
Beyond that, at least right now I'm still trying to figure out how the smartphone works.

The camera has both wifi and bluetooth built in. It has both in the camera menu and there is a wifi symbol on the actual camera. There should be a way to enable wifi in the camera but I do not see anything in camera or manual. I am not talking about the app (besides snap bridge app for iphone/ipad is not out yet). Do you have the d500?

Thanks. This is likely my only option.

Again as I mentioned above, I do not have a d500, but on my d7200, I activate Wi-Fi from the setup menu.
Turn on/enable Wi-Fi, and tab down to 'send to smart device'. Most of the time it takes more than the 2 minutes suggested.

Nikon WMU app will not work with the D500. You have to use Snapbridge the D500 and the D5 which is currently only available for android phones. For iPhones it is forecast for June.

You may be right about the Wi-Fi - I was going by the Accessories which says "Wireless Transmitter WT-7"

Snapbridge does not work with Apple IOS yet. Nikon says it will be introduced this summer. In the time being it only works on non-iphones, ipads etc. Check the Nikon website... it explains it all.

I had to smile at that. I had a Galaxy 4 tablet and gave it away because I couldn't figure it out. Then I got another one so I could use the WMU app.
