Bob, am looking to buy a Nikon d800 camera and I now have a Nikon 105mm defocus and a sigma 50mm lens that are full frame lens, do I really need a 24-85mm lens. Am just getting in to a full frame camera.
Thanks, Dave

Dave-
You don't have anything wider than 50mm, and no coverage between 50 and 105mm. The 24-85 would be a perfect addition to your bag, and it's tack-sharp. Also, check out any other full-frame lenses covering this range as to price----BIG BUCKS!!!!!!!!!!

No scratches, dents nor fungus. If it was listed online, it would be rated a 9+ at B & H, E+ at Adorama. It works as expected.

Thanks. Check PM.

I've had this lens a few years, and it has served me well. I recently purchased the new Sigma 50mm ART lens to replace the Nikkor and am selling the Nikkor for $225.00, plus shipping. PM me if interested.

Thanks for your interest.

Having served you well is fine but tells us nothing as to the condition of the lens. Please provide such a statement.

The trees of Oregon present countless photographic opportunities. The splendor of autumnal colors dazzles.

UMMMMMM then why buy a Full Frame Camera, they tend to be larger and weigh more, especially when FX lens applied. Not a Good argument.....

It's not an argument---rather a position. The photography that interests me is best captured in the middlle range: roughly 24-180mm and doesn't involve sports or birds. I have excellent primes in this range that, at 91, I'm still able to heft around, and that still relate to many years of film---no crop-censor calculating: a 35 is a 35 not a 52.5, etc.

A good used AF-S 70-300mm VR lens built for an FX camera can be bought for $300. If you can't afford an FX lens then your lens will work in a pinch, no other reason to use the lens mentioned.....

There is another reason:SMALL (read, LIGHT). When you get older, You'll understand.

Impossible? Perhaps not. A 55-200 4.0/5.6 GII VR kit lens (DX), on my D750 is just (well, almost) such a combination. With image area on 1.5 (DX) crop factor and field of view of 300mm there is no vignetting as expected. But on 1.2 crop factor, there still is no vignetting but with a slight darkening in the corners, and an effective FOV of 240mm. On FX, full frame, there is vignetting out to about 110mm. The rest of the way to 200mm is clear. Not bad for a kit lens IMHO!

Bogen 3001: aluminum--3 section legs--extends from 24" closed to 50". With ball head and QR plate, 64 1/4". Legs have release permitting unlimited splaying, and center post is reversible (may be mounted downward). Was bought new by me about 35 yrs ago and is in excellent condition. A real work horse.
Linhof ball head: solid steel (I think) and dates back to post WWII yrs. Works smoothly and flawlessly. Capacity is---hell, I don't know---but it easily solidly supports my D750 and 24-120 in any weird position I can dream up. Should outlast any of us or our kids. Bought used by me in about '87.
Manfrotto QR mounting plate is current.
Total weight under 5 pounds.

Asking $125 including shipping, if in CONUSA. Pay any reasonable way except Paypal.

For your use a tripod is advisable, but a pornograph is essential.
