Two nights ago I did a gig at a Chamber of Commerce event at a very high end community center. I was hired by the chamber, as was a social media guy, and a video guy. There was also an independent person taking photos. What we all had in common (and this has never happened before!) was we were all using Sony equipment. Now I know this will ruffle the gentle feathers of so many on this blog, but the reality is that market share is everything, and I as a Sony shooter am even amazed at how much is changing in the professional sphere. Years ago it was rare to find a pro shooting Sony, and now it seems that we are the majority. For there to be four image makers at an event and all of them using Sony had me pretty shocked. People vote with their feet and their money, and the other brands have to be on notice to up their game.

It was for more than any one reason, as he explains.

After 9 Years With Canon, I Switched To Sony....

I watched the whole thing and was impressed with his detailed story of how he loved his Canon equipment until he worked with people on the same shoot using Sony and he started to question his loyalty. Ease of use, and results will challenge anyone's loyalty. But why should we have loyalty to a brand if they are no longer providing us with what is necessary to complete one's endeavor? That goes for any product we purchase. The manufacturer has only one reason for existence, and that is to provide economic profit to its owners. Absent that, there is no reason for the manufacturer to exist! Your loyalty to them will never be returned, if it is not economically feasible.

My new favorite travel lens for my SONY A7R4 is the Tamron 50-400mm f/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD. I recently took a trip to Antarctica, and it was the perfect all-encompasing lens for my needs. For wider shots, I used my iPhone 13 Pro Max, and a Leica Q2, but got a LOT of use our of the Tamron. Hope this helps.

Tamron also has a perfect lens to pair with that in the 17-50mm for Sony Full Frame E mount. I have yet to check this one out but it is only $699.00 new.

Several points to your responses.
1. Mirrorless is not the future, it is the present and has been for years.
2. Sony has not relied on Zeiss lenses for quite some time. Yes, it helps the RX-10 line be superior to anything else on the bridge market. However, with their new designs, Sony has surpassed Zeiss in optical quality of lenses.
3. This information on "sales" is informative in that the majority of sales are in the regular line (A7iv) and the smaller body (A7C) cameras, which means that Sony has hit the sweet spots of most consumer's preferences.
4. Enjoy your own equipment until you desire something new, and then shop the market!

This young lady's hair is what separates her from some of the other women you have colorized. Yes, her smile and other assets are beautiful, but her hair stands out!

It is your "style" that is missed, and you can take that as a personal complement to the work that you post!

I cannot more highly regard, or similarly recommend to you, the YouTube video content provided by one Martijn Doolard. Consider it a parting gift on this final day of 2023 to the newbies, mid-level shooters, and others who engage in some 'for profit' pursuit of photography.

You will not be taught composition, you will not learn what exposure to use, you will not be informed with regard to lens caps or filters or even where to go on your summer vacation. What you might instead "learn" --if you watch with open eyes and an unclosed mind-- may be something that lies closer to the heart of still photography. I want to think of that 'something' as being something more primal, or as something more elemental, or as something more real, but know that none of those things I think quite touch what you might find in Doolard's videos. But I want to believe --that if you watch-- there's a possibility you'll grow in whatever aspect of photography that most interests you.

The comment below will supply a link to a 'recap' of Doolard's 2003 offerings, as uploaded today. I suggest, however, that in quiet moments when you've some time to spend, you search back and begin at the start.

May the New Year that'll begin tomorrow be all you could hope it could be.

I cannot imagine a life like that, but his imagery makes it look appealing, which is what is inspiring to you. I'm not an engineer, but that roof he is putting on looks like it will collapse the cabin below! But again, the use of light, foreground, focus, and placement of area of interest are the work of a true artist!

Please accept that I am not picking on you. I'm just interested in language and usage. Why do you (and many others) start a sentence with "So?" Is it regional, age specific, or other? Is it like the "Eh" in Canada?

I have noticed this also as a general situation that I think started with the west coast IT crowd. Then it became
de-reguerre with government types like Janet Yellin, explaining the questions she was getting. It certainly is a lazy way of speaking, and explaining a concept. Also, it kind of infers a talking down to you situation, like "so I'm going to explain it so that even you can understand it" type attitude. Hopefully, everyone else will start to see this "so" usage and it will stop!

Rick from NY posted some beautiful photos of a lovely child in, supposedly, the wrong section.

My Opinion:

Ever since the format changes to this forum, it has more increasingly difficult to navigate the sections. Therefore, posting photos anywhere on the forum seems appropriate. If the forum was re-formated to the old representations, it would be much easier for us to correctly post item subjects where they are supposed to be posted based on a standarized format, rather than no format at all.

I had the same problem with KEH. It must be corporate policy to make a higher offer than the competition, and then reduce it once it is in their hands. You are better off selling your gear to B&H because they do get a premium when reselling it. But always try selling to the UHH membership first.

When I had a NEX-7, I had the same 18-200mm Tamron lens. Occasionally it would not make great contact with the camera and the auto-focus would die. Even after sending it in to Tamron, the lens was never a favorite. Try the 18-105mm Sony "G" EZPZ lens. It is fabulous!

I never used Win 10, but a lot different than Win 7.
We have no problem with Win11 at all, but I did turn off One Drive use, it's such a pain in the butt and greatly clutters File Explorer.

I believe I removed Co-pilot also...

How do you turn off "One Drive?"

I had specifically requested that you colorize when you were thinking of leaving the forum. The results speak for themselves and are such a pleasure to review. I certainly hope you had enjoyed the effort and will continue to do so with the balance of your portfolio!

When I used to shoot APS-C, my favorite lens was the 18-105 EZ PZ. So when I upgraded to Full Frame, I knew they had a lens that was similar, but full frame. Although I do not shoot video, I purchased this lens new. Due to the type of shooting I do, which is events, I never have a use for this lens. I did take it with me to one shoot, but its size is just intended for a tripod, and not walking around a room full of people, so I never used it again!! If I did more headshots or portraits, I would keep this lens because it has great color and bokeh. It comes with the original box, and other original supplies. I also purchased a 95mm B&W UV filter and a Sensei lens cap as Sony does not include one with this lens! I am asking $1800.00 or best offer. This lens currently sells for $2398.00 at B&H. Feel free to check out my reviews, or DM me to ask me any questions about the lens.
