I shout with a sony a mount full frame and although I have some old Minolta lenses that work great. I've pretty much gone the Tamron 2.8 route adding a 70-200 2.8, 15-30 2.8, and a 150-600 to my sony 24 70 22.8 zeiss. I occasionally use my Minolta 50 1.8. I find the Tamron lenses about 1/2 the price and of very high quality have a peek before you decide.

Very appealing, Lloyd! I don't know if PS Elements has a radial tool, but it sure worked for you in LR in creating the sun.

Split toning has been mentioned on several occasions and I keep intending to get to it

Thanks so much.

in PS you can use the elliptical marquis tool I think if you hold the shift key it will be a circle then you would have to use a gradient going from white to transparent to get the feathered look and then mask the bottom off so it looks like it is behind the mountain... not sure exactly what from ps is also in elements or not....

Here comes the night! Last rays of sun
All this was done in lightroom hope you like it
whitened the mountain with brush tool
used a radial to add the sun and some fading sun spots in the grassy area
used healing brush to remove a tall tree toward the middle
used split toning on highlights to warm

You can get a third party flash unit. I own a Yongnuo #685 for Nikon. But Godox Brand is now the #1 popular third party flash unit. Overtaking Yongnuo. If you want a full size flash unit, the Godox TT685N is the one you need. It sells new for $110 at B&H Photo.

godox flashes are sold under different names adorama brands it as flashpoint. If you are going to buy one I suggest one of the Li-on battery ones the battery allows the flash to recycle faster and doesn't fade. You can easily get over 500 full power flashes before needing to charge the battery. In addition it would be wise to buy a godox/flashpoint trigger so the flash can be triggered wirelessly while off camera. I know that Adorama has support and service for the flashpoint branding not sure what kind of support you can get from Amazon for the godox branding.. I heard the Li-on model normally 179 was on sale (not sure it still is), at adorama for about 120..... I own 3 flashpoint models and the pro trigger for my sony camera

Many of the places you could buy the sony rx100 camera offer zero interest financing some possibilities are amazon (on the store card), BestBuy, BHphoto and adorama usually offer 12 months no interest maing it a little less painful.

I've been using the sony rx100 m3 for a few years now and when the photos are put next to my fullframe 43 mp camera you are hard pressed to tell the difference. The menus are a bit difficult to master and set up, I bought Gary Friedman's Ebook (he has one for every sony camera and model). I shoot in raw and mostly manual exposure mode. The camera fits in a shirt pocket and is really easy to carry around. Recently I purchased the new sony rx100 m7 which extends the zoom to 200mm (what a difference). so now I have a great travel camera without carrying 10 or more pounds of equipment around. I do wish it had a hot shoe. I have used the pop up as an optical trigger along with an off camera flash and though I've only done it once or twice it seems to work fine. The m7 aside from the extra zoom range can also shoot 20 frames per second and has the amazing focus tracking of the sony a9.. I am going on a European cruise in the spring and plan on just bringing the rx 100. I highly recommend the sony rx 100...

PS in order to use off camera flash triggering with the pop up you need to set your flash to s2 (slave 2 mode) and can only use manual not ttl…..

Increasing ISO doesn’t add any light... It just amplified the light captured by the sensor. Exposure is really aperture, shutter speed and light.

Technically speaking it is correct that iso doesn't
"add or subtract" light however in a practical sense it has the same effect as adding or subtracting light and is one of the 3 elements of the exposure triangle. doubling or halving the iso setting has the effect of adding or subtracting a full stop of light (and yes it does this by increasing or decreasing sensor gain and not actually adding or subtracting light.

I did try flipping it but I liked the light coming from the left. Please feel free to post your version. I always enjoy seeing how others would do it and I always learn something. Thank you so much for commenting.

I just edited my original post to include the image

although I too like this scene it had little or no impact. I did a little experimentation tightly cropped off the left side (empty tracks) flipped it horizontally so the rear of the train is on the left side near the bottom and heading across and up to the right. Did some lightroom enhancements dodge and burn to make the lighting more interesting did some sharpening and added texture to the train and silos. I find that lighting plays a major role for me when it comes to impact. Flipping the image seems to make for better use of the leading lines at least to me.

New Market Pond is a small pond in Piscataway, NJ. Totally surrounded by large trees on both sides, it offers nice views and is a local favorite. The image is SOOC, and I think it has "good bones", but needs some loving attention.

Nice scene and nice job photographing it... Many years ago I used to work in Piscataway at the Colgate Palmolive research center on River Road but for the life of me I can't remember ever seeing market pond so thanks for the opportunity

the exposure triangle aperture, shutterspeed, iso
to get more light raise iso and/or decrease shutterspeed, and/or open aperture

you are at max aperture for your lens so a faster lens say 1.4 is an option but expensive
decreasing shutterspeed to adds light but may increase motion blur for any fast moving action
increasing iso could add noise
shoot in manual so you control the 3 elements of the exposure triangle

I too am a big fan of the sony rx100 I've been served by the m3 for a number of years and just picked up the m7, it is quite a camera and I really appreciate the longer zoom 24 - 200 vs the m3 which was 24 x 70. I use it like a big dslr and set manual exposures. the only short coming is no hot shoe for a real flash (or trigger for off camera flash. It can shoot 20 frames per second and has amazing focus tracking..
