Sure hope this link works. Will the deniers claim this is some kind of conspiracy?

Didn't we have this discussion very recently? My two cents worth is that Glary Utilities, Kerish Docter and Malware Bytes are effective tools that have never donew me wrong whereas cc cleaner has done a number on me. I find Malware Bytes superior to Advanced System Care but the latter is a good utility. PC decrapifier is another very useful utility. I tend to do some risky browsing ewven though I know better and these utilities have kewpt me out of deep trouble. Once when I was concerned about the huge number of files that Malware Bytes was proposing to delete, I emailed their customer service (never could find a way to call them) they took the time to recommend some other free specialized utilities to run before using their program. That's what I call service!

why is there so much resistance to having your cake and eating it too? cards are NOW so cheap that economic considerations are minor. Why discourage someone that is buying a card or cards now from buying a large card in the 64 to 128 gig range? Is there a performance issue?

I think the most important thing is getting in the habit of transferring the images on any given card to a more permanent storage device (hard drive) as soon as one can (end of the shooting day). Larger cards offer more convenience. The failure rate of these cards today is negligible. And they are inexpensive. Anyway, that's my opinion.

Windows will likely never be perfect but my impression at this point by consensus, is that Windows 10 is the best Windows ever

Thank you for providing this entertaining genre with which I have little familiarity. I've downloaded a few for listening to again.

I have 5 computers in my household: 2 desktops, 2 laptops and a tablet. All are now running win 10; 4 were upgraded from 7 and 8.1 and 1 came with win 10 preinstalled. The one with Win 10 preinstalled is the one that has been the most unstable and until the latest fix, has had internet connection issues. After replacing 3 network cards and failing to correct the problem, at my suggestion, Dell replaced the card with the same model (different manufacturer) in our brand new laptop and the issue appears to be resolved. And so it goes . . . .

I have no idea how they can put it in your computer without permission? Seem's to me that would be illegal!

when you get a new computer running windows, remember when you had to check off some "I Agree"s? There are other options in regards to which and when you install updates. If you google them, there are all kinds of ways you can restrict Microsoft from being too intrusive.

I don't like to be forced to do anything, especially by threats, I have stopped windows 10 upgrading a couple of times. When people tell me I want have a choice, they forget I do have a choice. I will buy an apple, see I do have a choice, and ms can shove it. Just how long before the next version of windows appears, with same threats, I react to threats with my, choice and my money, so apple it will be.

Windows 7 is, I understand, going to be supported for quite a while. Win 10 is better though, if your computer can handle it. No one is forcing you or threatening you. Windows 10 is free! Macs are great but they are far more expensive than PCs and last I heard Apple doesn't give away anything. I think the best approach to this is being pragmatic. Good luck whichever path you take.

Presently I have the actual Windows 7 Pro disks for installing Windows 7 Pro, that have come in handy when I've had to re-install Windows for various reasons. If I upgrade to Windows 10 and I have a virus problem or whatever and have to wipe out and reinstall the system, how do I do that without having a Windows 10 installation disk or key?

you can download win 10 to a flash drive or external hard drive. microsoft really wants to make it easy to upgrade.

But my way was based on the actual number of horses, which might be more acceptable legally, and also confirms that the more elegant method comes out the same.

No criticism of your way intended. Any solution is to be applauded. Grahm's solution, for me at any rate, was very imaginative - less traditional and surprising

Another way to figure it which basically gives the same result is do the math based on 17 and round it off. 17 divided by 9 is 1.89, rounded up to 2. 17 divided by 3 is 5.67, rounded up to 6. 17 divided by 2 is 8.5, and since there are 9 horses left, and the others were rounded up, it makes sense to round the 8.5 up to 9.

Graham's way is quite elegant!

And MS knows that. Unfortunately, this year old Dell won't take the update. My older one made the transition, but this one is running Win8.1.

Do you have warranty on your year old Dell? If you do you may be able to get help from them. I had a desktop and a laptop that wouldn't upgrade until I rolled them back to day-one state. Was a pain to have to back up everything and reinstall apps but worth it.

Dear bgl;

I do understand the facts, much better than thee:

I don't thinkest that thou remember how the "FEDS" promoted the "Housing for everyone" routine which FORCED the banks to issue loans/mortgages/credit to most of the people that would not otherwise qualify (or they were threatened with heavy fines, etc.), and definitely couldn't keep up with the payments

I know a whole more than you think, as I supported one of the World's LARGEST BANK's Mortgage and Load departments during that period.

You as a lib understand little if anything at all about REAL ECONOMICS.
Dear bgl; br br I do understand the facts, m... (show quote)

"Forced the banks"? You've got to be kidding! How exactly did you "support" the mortgage and Load (that's your spelling) departments?
