i bought an oem battery that claimed alpha xx compatible. did not work i my 65. looked at the forums and apparently the 65 was touchier about oem batteries than the other cameras in the alpha series.

i ead the reviews and seems like others have said the vivitar works in their 65. i ordered one from ebacy $13 including shipping.see how it goes

The one tried to use was VIV-SB-FM500H and it does not work. So like you, I ordered another Vivitar battery that had NP-FM500H number. I hope this works.

If the battery works on the camera, then it should be fine in the charger.

The battery did not work in the camera. I thought that the charger was the problem.

I've been researching diff cameras to possibly buy. Wedding in Europe coming soon. The price on the 5300 hovers around $700 & i saw a 7100-used for around $775. Handling a 5300 recently felt small with dial on top right vs I believe dial is on left of 7100. Being completely unexperienced w digital I felt, being R handed enabled access to the dial w L better. Please excuse my lack of experience. Shot years ago w a Minolta SRT 101 & it felt good and still have many very good lenses. Thanks in advance for your reply's.

Have you looked at Sony? If your lens are AF, they will still work on a Sony A65, A58, and A77

Does anyone know if a Vivitar battery VIV-SB-FM500H will work with the Sony battery charger? Will this work with the A65V?

I agree, The resolution is just very poor. The Sony @6000 is a 24 MPixel vs 18 on the V3... I have considered the Sony, however My wish is to be able to use the nikon lenses that I own, and this was not possible with the Sony unit.
If you know of a mirror-less camera, 24 megapixels, that I can use my lenses at full features... please let me know.
Thanks for your input

There is an adapter Canon lens. There might be one for Nikon too.

Although I did not ask the Q, I have been reading everything you have posted on 'editing' topics. Thank you so much for your information.

I am zeroing in on Corel for editing because, according to several of you, it appears user friendly, will do a lot and is practical.

My prime thrust is imaging older women so the big need is softening faces, whitening teeth, brightening eyes, removing blemishes, etc.

Being an old time TL & SLR guy, who is experiencing difficulty in the D world, I have learned to get it as right as possible through the lens. I rely largely on my D5300 for these shots.

One of you suggested that it (Corel) 'sucks' with editing RAW. To what extent will it enhance RAW?, if any. I use JPEG but am just now experimenting with RAW.

Also, what is the difference (see my title) in these two programs?

Thank you again. You helped me 'largely' with SD card information in the past. Please keep up the good work. I appreciate you.

Vinny

Hi Vinny. I use Corel x6 Ultimate. The Ultimate gives you more in that you get plugins for editing faces. Though I never tried it yet.

I believe the hotshoe mount is different so you would need an adaptor at least. At worst the voltage may be different enough to damage the body. I would trust Sony's statement long before I trusted internet "hints".

I agree. I only will loss $19.00. Live and learn.

I bought a Minolta 4000AF for my A65 and A230 cameras. Does anyone know if this combo will work? Sony does not recommend the 4000AF. One website hinted that it would work.

My husband, highly published in magazines and calenders, Have always used Nikon. We have 3 DSLR nikon camera's and love the great pics It gives us as well as easy to learn how to use the camera. Most lenses will fit our camera's. We started with Nikon film and now DSLR and find them to be the best price and easy to function. Recently submerged his Nikon D800 completely under water and after 3 days of drying it out it worked again. They are not made for being submerged but still worked. Just make a choice that you can be sure to learn all its functions because without that you cant get the best pic. JMO
