I made some light adjustments to the photo. Then I did a color adjustment . then added a high pass filter to try to sharpen it some . then a tone map . I think it came out ok . the photo was not sharp to start with so limits the adjustment values . Hope you like my version .

I think the shot over all is good. It seems to have a sharper focus on the nose tip and upper portion of the nose at the brow line. I have found this to some times be caused by having the camera on continuous auto focus and some hand shake.
I put the photo in Photoshop elements and put a high pass filter on it and I think it sharpened it up even just a tad more . here is your photo with the adjustment . hope you like it .

Just did a quick focus adjustment on my EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L II and my 7DII. This photo was taken at 400mm at a distance of about 4 ft. or so. Not sure I'm totally satisfied with it. Would appreciate opinions. Wanted to post a shot at longer range but it is snowing outside and not the best conditions for a longer shot. Was also going to do a 100mm shot, but the cat didn't cooperate! Shot at f/5.6

When I took this shot I was not aware that I had a picture of the egg or the chick emerging from the egg. I have very simple editing software and have not been able to get the image out of the shadow. I don't know if there is any image in the shadow can someone help, Thanks Doug

Photoshop Elements .. Adjusted the light levels, then contrast . then did a high pass filter to tighten up the focus some .

The photo is not pulling me to the water or the dock.
It has no real eye drawing power. The camera focus point is on the clump of leaves and branches hanging center of the pic.
When you look at the photo in full size you see that every thing else is fuzzy and your eye is drawn to the sharper focus of the branches..

I am assuming you used auto focus mode when you shot the photo.

I think you could have shot the same photo with a manual focus. Locking onto the dock or the pond and that would have improved the eye catching quality of the photo. Maybe also move to the left and shoot it with the opening more center and thus give you more of the "looking at the pond" look.

I always do a test photo when I shoot portraits and it look on my Ipad to see the back ground. I think the Art work was not straight at the time . I have made some adjustments to the drapes . not sure how good it is . Hope this helps .

Nice effort, MyPharo. Thanks for trying. I had straightened using the folds in the drapes. If you look at yours now the picture is straight but the drapes are crooked. Trust me, I went back and forth multiple times on the straightening issue. Yours is also much darker than Mrdb. The family seems to like the lighter images. Good job on that arm cover!! I'm amazed at anyone who can take care of editing like that!
