I can from Nikon to Fuji years ago.
Fuji all the way. But if the 55-200 lens is all you have & cant afford to buy a wider lens, rent one for the trip.

Totally agree with your wife.
Packsafe make backpacks that can’t be slashed & the same for a camera strap.
I have the Spiderpro belt system it keeps it on my body & has a latch system that you have to release to get it off the belt.
But you are a target there for sure. Unless you are going to have it on your body all the time I’d leave anything good at home.
Maybe this is the time to buy a small pocket type camera. There are a few out there that are good.
Having insurance is great but it doesn’t help you when the camera is gone to record your trip.
I have a college that travels to South America for business every few years. Everytime he leaves his hotel room someone went through it. After the 1st trip he takes nothing, even the computer stays home.
So take what you will from this, but I love my camera & to loose it I would be heart broken.

Your only relying on Sony info, perhaps you need to check Fuji because some of your statements are true for them. It seems that a lot of talk & miss information come from Canon or Nikon users that have never use d mirrorless. I switched from Nikon years ago to Fuji. No it’s not cheaper, no the lenses have cost more, but oh yeah colour & quality of my images is way better.
So I take it from your statement that you purchased a Sony & didn’t like it.
Or are you just jumping on the mirrorless bash wagon.

Capture one seems to be the go to.
But I’ve seen others use Luninar & Aurora.

Think outside the box.
Go outside, find a stump or tree anything that’s interesting to prop up the item.
Who says things have to be shot inside with a backdrop.
Use your imagination & experiment.
Guitars remind me of the country, barns & hay.
Or heavy metal, industrial.

Let’s not let this site get political. There are lots of other places to share your view.
This is a photography site let’s keep that in mind.

My son got a female shepherd too. I couldn’t walk her she pulled was way too strong.
He sent her to boot camp for 2 weeks of training. It was were they trained guard & police dogs.
She was way better when she got home. But with both of these dogs they are strong willed in body & mind.
I would love them both too but you might have to realize you can only keep one now. A hard on the heart decision. You had the right intentions but your not as able as you once were.
Is there anyone in the family that can take one of them.

When we were in Edinburgh we went out to North Berwick.
From there we took a zodiac over to the Isle of May to photograph the Puffins.
This was in May so not sure if they would still be there then but I know there were lots of others.
Can’t remem the name of the company but if you google I’m sure you will find.

I was a 7100 user for years. Then changed to Fuji, I have the XT2 with 18-135 on it most of the time. I also have the 100-400 for other uses. It was a bit of a learning curve, but I ❤️ it.
I love all the firmware upgrades, no more having to buy a new camera after 2 years just to get the latest.
Do look into Fuji as well.

The 5600 is a beginners camera. It’s ok but you will soon tire of it.
Get the 7100 & the 18-140. I had that combo for years before I switched to Fuji.
It traveled the world with me.
Never let me down.

If you want a travel lens that’s not the one. That’s for better on a full frame for sure.
Look into an 18-140, 18-300 or 400. I believe that Tamron makes something in that range.
It will give you the wide shots to telephoto to get closer.
A 200-500 is for birding etc.
It’s wat to heavy to carry around.
I used to be a Nikon shooter but switched a number of years ago to Fuji.
I’ve been all over the world & there’s not a time that I found a lens like that for travel.
Except when I planned to use it for wildlife.
What are you thinking of shooting with it?

We had the same problem. at our Wild Bird center store where we bought seed they have a bird feeder that’s squirrel proof. But they can still jump on it & try & get in. So we gave in & feed them too. We bought a squirrel feeder box. Attached it to the arbor, it has a top, we fill it with nuts. The little buggers are smart they figured it out. Now as long as we fill it everyday they pretty well stay out of the bird feeder.
