I’m with bkyser on this one. I have two of the Yongnuo YN685s. I have the SB700. The Nikon is the backup.

Sorry, I haven't read through all of the responses here. However, I can say that Norman Camera has come through for me many times in the past. I shoot large and medium film and digital. I have made a deal over the phone on a Canon PRO 100 printer that the person on the phone said they would set aside with my name on it. Another sales person sold the last one on the floor while I was on the phone. Short story, they sold me the PRO10 for the same price as the PRO 100 when I came to pick it up.

I've bought many lenses and two cameras from them. They let me touch and feel them, and their prices are the same as any on line stores. They are there to answer questions. And; as an aside: of the 19 employees at their Grand Rapids store, 11 still shoot film and print in the darkroom. Most of them are under 40, so not "Old Geezers" like me.

Unless you are printing BIG, the PRO-10 would be my choice. Oh! Wait! It was. I too, print infrequently. Never a clogged head. I love that this particular printer puts a protective clear coat over the print.

I purchased this after having a number of prints from a local "pro lab" either too dark, too light or with banding. Under a deadline, I purchased from my local camera store.

I've had this for three years and have had zero issues that weren't operator related.

Purchase the cover for your new printer from Stone Photo Gear. Quality product at fair prices. If he doesn't have listed what you need, he is more than willing to make a custom cover for you.

For me, the biggest difference is focus in low light conditions. I had an f/4 lens not focus where the f/2.8 did.

My experience with OEM vs Third Party inks is that I have only had good luck with OEM ink, but it was a mixed bag with Third Party inks. The Third Party inks essentially scrapped the last inkjet printer I replaced. The Third Party company is a well known one, and the first set of ink cartridges worked, but the second set scrapped the printer.

I'll stick with the expensive OEM Cartridges.

My experience as well. My wife bought 3rd party inks for her desktop printer and it became a door stop. Only OEM for me. When I bought my Canon PRO-10, I vowed to never use non-OEM inks. I purchased an additional complete set of inks to have on hand when one is empty. As I replace one, I order a replacement. I always have a complete set on hand.

I go months between printing sessions with no clogs, no problems.

Having worked with Bob many times, I have to agree that he is a master at getting folks to "scootch together" and gets great shots. In the meantime, I'm getting the "detail" shots and candid at the the reception. Bride hugging Great Grandma, etc. I guess that I'm just too technical :).

I have the Canon Pixma Pro-10. I've gone months without printing. Upon power up, the printer agitates the inks prior to printing. I've never had a clogged head, nor any problem that wasn't operator error (one cartridge not seated completely). I had issues with third party inks with other printers (all in ones) so go with only Canon inks.

They also have a really nice dual sling strap system, that really does a great job of spreading the weight out across your shoulders instead of on your neck.

I've used this after seeing Bob with his and two cameras with different lenses. I've also used it to support my Mamiya RB67 (a heavy beast). I've adjusted the straps so that the waist level finder is at the correct distance and can "hand hold" the thing down to 1/8 second shutter speed.

Nothing but good thing to say about the OpTech system.

Photrio is an absolute goldmine. A former Kodak chemist (Photo Engineer, also known as PE) is a resident there. Did I state that the information there is a goldmine? They are a great group of people.

FWIW, I had a local pro lab do my prints. Their guru left without my knowledge and my next print were all messed up. I needed them for a show two days later. Too late to have them redone.

Long story short. Establish a good working relationship with a local PRO LAB that you can trust, or do like I did and purchase a good quality printer, calibrate and do your printing in house where you have total control.

It was the fault of the camera, not the lens. I rented the 24-120/f4 for a wedding shoot as a lens on my backup camera (Nikon D5100). In the dim light of the reception hall, I could not get focus.

The Sigma 15-50 f/2.5 did just fine on my D7200.

The focus on a D850 is no doubt much better than on my D5100 :).

I would be leery of courses from NYIP - Signed up for a travel photography course, found it to be very lacking in content. Some modules were even taught by one instructors so, a 12 year old. Really - If I'm paying the price of a college level course I expect the instructor to at least be an adult. He was one of the other instructors sons. After I submitted a unit assignments, including photos, they were critiqued by an instructor. I asked for a reply from the critique and was told they don't do that. What a waste of money it was.

Then they have changed substantially from when I took their Professional Photography Course. I not only got the critique, but questions answered to any email that i sent. Not to mention the constructive criticism.

Probably the best money that I have ever spent on Photography. Albeit, a few years ago :).

Suggestion, rent before you buy. It's one thing to walk into a camera store and check them out, but quite another to use for at least a few days. A few dollars spent renting can save you a few thousand in making the wrong choice.
