The nice thing about amateur photography is that we can take and keep pics that WE like, not what someone else tells us to like.

If you had stood farther away from the building and allowed more "air" around it, the vertical straightening would not have removed the top of the tower and there would be more space on both sides. Perhaps the "gods who rule" would not have noticed and you would have gotten away with it.

You were shortchanged by the system IMHO.

Thank Kentee, unfotunately my back was against a wall so I couldnt move back any more. I will certainly keep on trying but I didn't understand why I was told 'too much PP used'.

That's purely subjective; excellent image and better luck next time.

Thanks buffoto for taking the time to write and I'll keep on trying.

Well Tony I cant tell whats been done to it (excellent photo) If you had told them beforehand what work you had done to it..well you know what to do next time!!

Thanks Doddy, apart from the verticals it is straight as it came from the camera, not even cropped. The only thing I can think is that I should have aimed the camera slightly higher as it almost looks like the top of the tower is cut off.

I took this photo for a club competition and tried to adjust the converging verticals, using PSE11 filters -camera distortion correction. I didn't win and was told that there was too much Pp on it. What is the view of our members, Please.

An old disused mining site near Falmouth, now converted to a nature walk. All photos taken with my Fuji X10

An old boiler house. Last used about 1870

A dodgy way to cross the stream.

I had to drive home with very wet feet after taking this.

I have tried several LUMIX during my digital phases and really admire the quality of the photos.( Take the little Zs25 Lumix, pure delight on a small pocket size! ) . I still cherish the good, small and reliable Lumix DMC-FX8 that cannot read SD cards of 4GB and up. Beautiful night photos and detailed sunlight pictures. ($40 on Amazon last time i looked). F/2.8 17.4 ASPH Leica lens.

I am Waiting for real user reviews on the Lumix FZ70 because I think it will have an edge over the SX50 which think is the best right now. It might happen Canon drops the price when the FZ70 becomes common knowledge. Just dreaming. I have the SX30 IS and wish to upgrade. The real tie breaker for me between p510 and sx50 was the focusing speed, where SX50 wins.
I have tried several LUMIX during my digital phase... (show quote)

If you want great focussing speed then the best superzoom must be the Fuji HS50EXR, it is practically instantaneous even at full zoom. It also has a larger sensor than most other cameras in its class, even though there is not much between them. I love my HS50, it feels great in hand and the pictures are almost as good as an entry level DSLR, clear and sharp with loads of detail. Finally Fujis are noted for their excellent colour rendering.

Great pictures. I always enjoy seeing birds from other countries and ones not common around where I live.

Thank you, I was a bit wary about posting photos of such common birds after seeing all the rare and exotic bird photos that often appear here. But I must admit that our sparrows are certainly not rare here, yesterday we had about twenty of them squabbling around the feeders, and they do make a loud noise.

I love the sharp focus of the top dime compared with the blurred background. Maybe if the coin stack was straighter nearer the bottom and the top few coins curved more to the upper left it would guide the eye round better

Looks like you are enjoying your new Fuji. Like that you got down on their level on the ground. Nicely done.

Thank you, I was sat in a deckchair about 30ft away from them.

I'm pretty certain it is a young Dunnock, sometimes called a Hedge Sparrow although not related to the sparrow family. It is related to the Robin family so Hedge Accentor is another probably another name for it. There are several in my garden and although they don't use the feeders, they forage the ground underneath them mixing with sparrows, robins and finches.
