I was in Glacier 1 1/2 years ago in July going to the sun road opened a week before i got there because of the snow. hiked to hidden lake, trail was covered with snow the whole way was worth it. did the hike to avalanche lake also you will have plenty of company on the trail. some trails were still closed from the snow and ice. nice hike around st mary lake and out to swift current lake. St mary Falls is a good hike.Parking will be a problem in some areas in July. I am going to Banff area the end of June this year for 8 days

was on it June, no problem taking camera don't know about tripod or monopod. if you get in a car with a lot of people tripod would be useless anyways but it dosen't draw the crowds much and you do have to watch out for reflections shooting through the glass you are enclosed.
since your there on the weekend, remember they are closed on Saturday and also close early on Friday afternoon so plan accordingly if you visit
