Looking for a little advice. Currently, in Rocky Mountain National Park, Heading through Utah Canyon lands to San Diego with my Canon 60D with 1/2 battery charge. Was excited about the prospects along the way, but my forgetfulness left the charger at home. Will be able to have shipped to San Diego, but will miss Utah Parks. Would it be better to rely on cell phone camera or try to find a point and shoot, like the Nikon CoolPix which uses easily replaceable batteries?

Can you buy another charger in San Diego?

I should be able to get my charger in San Diego. It's just between now and then.

A cell phone pic is better than no pic at all , look for a local camera store, maybe u can buy a charger ( im sure u already thought of that)

Another battery charger forgotten. First it was a tourist in Israel. You're now the 2nd person forgetting his charger traveling on this forum. I suppose it can happen to anyone.

Multiple charged batteries should always be required equipment.

There are camera stores between RMNP and Canyonlands...I know there is one in Moab and I believe Grand Junction before Moab.

At a later time;

you should get extra batteries and chargers as others mentioned.

Also, if your hiking, camping etc. Buy one of the solar cell chargers for cellphone's and/or laptops.

Be careful though. Some of those cheap solar chargers are not really very good and might take a day or so to charge this up. So get a good one.

I’ve felt your pain. Battery Joe’s and Battery Plus carry generic chargers and batteries. Probably about $80 for the both. It’s better than your cell phone and will make it easier for you to forgive yourself.

As long as you have an address, even a UPS store, you should be able to get either your charger from home or a new one, overnighted.

If you purchase a new charger you will have it now. Then when you get home you can keep the spare charger in your suitcase so you don't forget it again.
At least one spare battery is always a good idea.

AlanD,

Sorry to read you forgot the second most important item for your trip, the charger; the number one would be the camera.
Since it sounds like you are driving from point to point, check along the way at photo stores, Target, Best Buy, etc. for car chargers for your Canon. You can plug your battery into the charger and the charger into the accessory plug while driving from point a to b.

In larger town/cities you can look for Batteries+ to see if they have a charger.
While spending the night in the motel you can search Google for batteries near your route.

Unfortunately, it seems there is a shortage on Canon LiIon batteries, so the chargers may be in short supply as well.

Good Luck

In addition to a charger, it doesn't hurt to have a couple of extra batteries.

Since the 60D can't charge the battery internally, and you don't want to drive back in to Denver... You could order and ship a genuine or generic charger and a couple more batteries (Amazon Prime) to a town 2 days out such as Grand Junction, to the Post office via General Delivery.

Be careful, as many items aren't in amazon stock and could take 5 days even though sold as PRIME. Look for "Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA)"
Charger (Home & Car),

With extra LP-E6 batteries.

Wasabi Power is also a popular after market brand.

---------------
Here's what it says in the FAQ section of the Amazon.com website...

The U.S. Postal Service does not deliver to some addresses. If you also have a PO Box address, it's best to use that address for your Amazon.com orders. All orders with "PO BOX" in the address are automatically shipped via U.S. Mail.

If a post office box address was entered in a format our system does not recognize, the package may be shipped through a carrier that cannot deliver to a post office box. To ensure that such packages are routed through the proper carriers, please enter the box number as "PO BOX" followed by the number.

The only time this won't work is when the item is too large for USPS postal standards. That would be any item over 108 inches in circumference, or over 70 lbs.

So, when you want to have something shipped while you're on the road, find the address of a small town postal station and have it sent General Delivery for pickup at that station. The post office is obligated to hold it for you for 30 days.

Here's an example of how it should be addressed...

Kevin Read
PO BOX General Delivery
Mesquite, NV
89024-9999

(The add on zip code -9999 must be used for general delivery.)

Wasabi batteries are good 3rd party options. And the links provided by Robertski are good alternatives too. Unbeatable prices listed.
