Depends on what type of subjects you like to shoot and where you are going !! Also, I always sujest that you look at past travel shots and see what the metadata is with regards to lens length. My favorite Nikon "walk around" lens is a 16-85. It seems to cover most of what I want to shoot, but remember everyone is different. If I am walking around Manhattan, I usually add my Sigma 10-20 in aLowePro quick change pouch. I ususally have a 70-200 with me but leave it in the car. I can always go back & get it if I want it.

Thanks for all your help and advice gentlemen. I stopped at Best Buy where I bought the computer for her this morning. I talked to one of their Geeks who said to make an appointment to bring it in and they would straighten it out. $150.00 with a 30 day warranty or $200 with a one year warranty and full tech support for a year. After he finished and turned away another guy who heard the conversation came over and suggested that she delete all temporary files and cookies and see what happens before bringing it in to them. MT Shooter you were right I was told it was a browser Hack !!!

I'll keep you all appraised of the progress. Her computer, she downloaded the game with the Malware, BUT you all know who will pay to get it fixed !! (And it will be my pleasure !!)

My daughter uses one of my laptps for school and uses the computer for school. She downloaded a game for her son to play and with it came a pop-up that asks you to call a phone number to rid your computer of a virus. She unknowingly did and a guy came on the phone with a heavy accent. He took control of the computer and showed/told her that she had several viruses and asked for a credit card number to "Fix" everything. She hung up on him and shut down her computer, but the damage was done. Now every time she boots up, the pop-up comes back and she cannot X out of it.

Is this something we can delete from add/delete programs or do we need professional help ?? If I take it back to Best Buy will they install a security program and help us ??

I think the negative comments that I heard are justifiable. Low price means grey market products and all the problems that creates. I am sure there are other reputable vendors but I have been very pleased with both Adorama and B&H. Great service from both and got some good advice from B&H

Agreed !! Walt C

I have posted this reply several times and I'm sure will post it again: If you have to ask about 42nd Street, You probably should trust your gut feeling that led you to ask !!!

There are many learned people here at UHH with much more experience than I !! Trust their opinions, they speak from many years of experience and many purchases from many sellers !!!

Not a gentleman, but... So far, I am very impressed with my 200-500. It locks focus beautifully on BIF and other wildlife through trees, etc. Very sharp when I'm steady or its mounted on mono or tripod. Love the fixed aperture of 5.6 and have gotten extremely good results when adding the 1.4 tele. Enjoy!

Amy, Which 1.4 TC are you using on your 200-500 ??

Right now, 42st Photo is offering the Nikon 18-140 lens for $269; Just over half what B&H is asking. It is a non-issue for me as I shoot Pentax and Sony. Just wondering if any "Nikonians" would risk it

Not on a bet !! Do a search here on that seller !!

It's not that you're not supposed to use the same card in different cameras, you just have to format the card to each camera each time. Make sure any images are taken off or they'll be lost. Oh, yeah. It's not a myth. If a card was used in 1 model camera & moved to another, the 2nd camera will tell you the card needs to be formatted.

No need to re-format... I switch SD cards betwen my D7100 and a Nikon Cool Pix P7000 without formatting. I will have DSC-xxx files and DSCN-xxx on the same card. Never had a problem and never lost an image !! By the way, I format a card once the first time I use it and NEVER again. I use SanDisc and never had a card go bad and never lost an image (that I know of !!)..

I looked up the ink cartridges on B&H. They want $102 for a set. How many 8x10 prints do you get (roughly) before you have to replace them?

Red River Paper reports 8 x 10's average aprox $.875 per print with a Canon Pixma Pro 100.

The Red River Paper website has a great review on this printer and does "costs per page" comparisions.

I do own a Canon Pixma Pro 100 and like it very much. Some friends complain about ink usage. I like the convenience of printing at home and not having to upload to a lab.

Manfrotto ball heads are good. The low priced ones you see in camera stores are pretty much for point and shoot, the more you are willing to spend the better they will be.

I use this ball head on my 190PROB with a D7100 and "wide to normal" lenses and it works well for me. And their RC4 system is very robust !!

I use the RC4 plates on all my cameras, ball heads and have adapted my Nest Gimbal from MT Shooter with ARCA to use this plate....
