I get out any chance I can and shoot, temps below zero do not sway me much just takes longer to prepare. The cottonwood tree is my favorite from the season and was taken last Saturday morning during our January thaw in the area. I know some on the forum won't like because of the "post processing" per some recent topics but I like the and think they are beautiful images. The cottonwood tree was shot in RAW hdr -1,0,+1 on my Nikon D7100 with Tokina 11-16mm @ 16mm. The middle shot was a five shot HDR in JPEG. -2,-2,0,+1,+2. Enjoy the art.

Welcome. 30 is nice shooting temp. I was out last Saturday and the air temp was -10. Guess it is just what one is used to. And how sick one has become to taking photos. ☺ like the Cardinal. So many go for the males but the females have their own beauty too.

I am trying to understand your two post. Are you a purest with SOOC beliefs? If so you are missing out on the second part of photography and true freedom of expression.

Truth in advertising is a whole different ballgame and many of the models used are picked because of their external beauty. If that is what CVS is getting at. More political correctness in a politically incorrect world.

For me a photograph is an image that captures a moment in time. It’s that simple I go out with my Minolta SRT 201 take a perfectly exposed photo ( I only shoot B&W film) and I’m done. I don’t have to come home and waste time fabricating an image that was not there in the first place with hardware and software. If you have a digital camera you are always tweaking something in your image. I get it that you want to swap colors, change an image to sepia, soften the focus, have starry lights and all the other games you play with an image. When will a digital camera be made that we won’t ever have to do anything to the image? You expose the scene correctly take the photo and you’re done. You’ve captured the moment perfectly! (And yes I have had digital slrs and computers, software, scanners, printers etc... )

The horse and buggy system works just fine as a means of transportation so why use a new device such as an automobile to get there faster and with more options.

Maybe what you don't understand is some people create Photographic works of art or are trying too and not common snapshots so many in the world take. For me that is using all the tools available to me and waiting on some photo lab to develop my pics is so 80's.

Use still using a party line phone? Still using dial up modem? Have to change with the time or it will leave you behind.

I just checked and I made his blacklist also. I really don't care but he comes across exactly like many see him. A condescending conceited arrogant person who must lead a lonely real world life and has nothing more to share than simpleton questions. And so many sheep seem to be letting him lead them.

"Amateur Photographer until 1972, when I turned professional, and exhibited some of my work at the Alexis Nihon Plaza in Montreal. Since then, I've run both my own studio, and have worked at various other studios, and labs, along the way - both in NYC, and in NJ and CT
I've also worked for Olan Mills as a portrait photographer, on the road, throughout much of the Northeast USA. Currently retired."

He states this in his profile but his topic posts are not anything worth reading. If he is who he says he sure does not show it. You would think someone with all that know how would share it intentionally or through his replies unintentionally and he does neither.

If you are travelling to New York City; do not stay at the Nesva Hotel. I have never written anything like this and having been burned for $229.50 I feel I must. I'm not looking to start a discussion, there are 1000's of hotels in New York - you'll either heed my advice or you won't; I'm simply saying do not book rooms there. This post will make me feel better.

You simply can not cancel at check in when you made reservations. The hotel held the room for you and you canceled at check in. You entered into a binding agreement then backed out.

How would you like it if someone ordered a large photo from you and you spent the money and time to get it ready for them then on the day of delivery they informed you they no longer wanted it. You would not like that either.

You are wrong in this case and the hotel was in their right to recoup their loses. Most will let you cancel at no cost but very rarely will they let you do so at check in. You also may want to watch your review and not slander the business then you have more problems.

Great article should quiet down the M people but I don't think it will. Their egos will not allow it.

Get it right in camera and many say they shoot raw. Then you really can't get it right in camera and would require PP? I shoot jpeg HDR only so PP is a must and I would assume it to be a must on all images. The "key" to getting it right should be composition first. Without that all you have is a snapshot no matter what you do in PP.

Which planet? There are 8 of them just in our solar system. Are you talking Earth or the one you're from?

Been having a great time doing some sunset photography as of late with the colder weather the local water holes have glazed over with a nice layer of ice lacking snow so far. The reflection patterns have been spectacular off the ice. Some of my best sunset shots I have been able to witness and capture. All shot on my Nikon D7100 Aperture from 2.8 - 8, Bracket 1 step shots five shots each, processed in Machinery HDR and Corel Paintshop Pro 2018.

Free? Nothing's free in life. Take a better picture.

Wow another arrogant snark comment never would of thought that. FYI something to consider is the artistic side of photography done in post that can only be done in post. Take a better picture would not apply in this case would it now?
