I was under the deck at the back of my house
Deauxeite - I attached some pic's I took with my nikon P90 - point and shoot. used scene mode the sports option. It would take 45 shots in 3 seconds. But when you would hold the shutter down half-way it would take 10 exposures then repeat until you would continue to depress the shutter all the way thus taking the next 35 exposures. The lightning I captured was usually within shots 5 thru 10. A lot of noise, and the darker it got the more noise appeared. Have lots of interesting shots. In 30 minutes took 984 pic's, which resulted in about 100 with lightning.

Thanks for the tips, looking back at the metadata I had been shooting in aperture mode at F11, which is what I took this shot at. the speed was 1/8 way to slow. New at all this, next time for a shot like this I will use auto or scene mode. Really didn't want to spook this deer in the middle of the day, I know she was in safe mode here. Also was using 18-300mm zoom, this shot a 260mm.
For all of you on this thread that would like a 'close-ups' section have already have a solution. 1 - select create new topic, 2 - select photo gallery - 3 title start with "close-up's" then your subject and post. We can then search for "close-up's" to find all of those posts. Here are a few orchids I took, one full flower, which I like to see. One 1/1 for the hummingbirds.

spotted this girl resting under some pine trees while driving back roads from Westcliff to canon city. Took the picture from the car so not to spook her.

Happy B-day and your purchase of the D7000, I bought mine in December, been taking pic's everyday. Have learned so much from all the members of UHH.

a moment to soon - fla keys
feel free to use any of my pictures, anyone at UHH that makes money off my pic's just send me 95% of what you make.
thanks David, here's a example of one that's holding on. This is on BLM land a few minutes from my house, I hike here ofter instead of walking down a road. I see you shot with a D600, I was considering that camera. I went with the d7000 my first DSLR. Now only buying FX format lens so when I upgrade to the D600 or similar model I will have some glass.
