Yes. I do that too. Both work nicely in LR.
IDguy nailed it. Use the import function in LR. It’s very straight forward. I use it redularly to import new images from my mobile backup device.
Sorry. I didn’t add the comment to which I was responding. You are correct. My point is that optimizing the original image produces a better starting point with a RAW image and, in my experience, a superior end product.
Respect the signs. Ask permission. There have been very few times a farmer or rural property owner hasn’t granted permission to take photos. At least that’s been my experience.
That’s just not accurate. I know for myself and several photography friends that optimizing the raw image helps produce a superior final product. That’s true whether it is print or digital. I suspect we are not that unusual.
I’ve consolidated with Lightroom. Like many others here, I work to optimize my in camera images. But there are always refinements, both subtle and not so subtle, to be made. And while I have been using Lightroom and taken several workshops, there are always new things to learn. And this is one thing I will be doing while we hunker down at home.
I take extra cards and a Gnarbox. I copy the cards to the Gnarbox. I can use my phone or iPad via dedicated apps to store and edit my images. I keep the cards and the Gnarbox in different locations. You can even put a copy in the cloud—like Dropbox. I don’t do this. This system worked well for me on a recent two week trip to Mexico.
I have had nothing but superb service from B&H. They offer fair prices and have stellar service. Can't recommend anyone higher.
I loved the first movie too. Looking forward to seeing the second.
Thanks for posting. Much appreciated.
I was surprised how quickly I adapted to IOS. Of course, it was a long time ago and I may not be remembering all the hassles. But from today’s perspective I’m glad I made the switch. And if you are interested in abbApple be sure to look on their site for their refurbished equipment. I’ve purchased multiple refurbished laptops without any problem. They come with Apples warranty. And I usually purchase the extended warranty.
Good luck.
I concur with pixelstan77. I was a longtime Windows person. Until I switched cold turkey about 15 years ago. I’ve never looked back. There is a learning curve. Apple equipment tends to be more expensive for comparable gear. But I’ve had much fewer problems with the hardware and software than before my switch. I have an iPhone, iPad Pro and Mac-mini which work seamlessly together. I’m sorry I didn’t switch sooner.
The suggestion to rent and Try is excellent. I have both the 1.4 and 2.0. Both are Canon. The work perfectly within their design specifications. Both worked well with my 5dMII and my EOS R using the lens adapter.
I only use the “official” batteries. I usually have two. Against the cost of the camera and lenses, the extra cost for a “real” battery is minimal. And I don’t worry about it working properly.
It’s still a solid camera. No reason it shouldn’t work for you.
