I appreciate your enthusiasm, but its really hard to make any comparison in this manner. Color can be manipulated, or set in camera. To be fair, both should be on "standard" and there should be the same composition, in the same light with the same settings. While a broad landscape can be an example, its not a true test of the lenses. It really needs at least a portion where sharpness/detail is tested as well. Just IMHO, as a prior Fuji XT-1 user.

I prefer the b/w because the contrasts are sharp enough to bring out the layers of sediment, shadows
and it is well composted to take advantage. IMHO, the development/pp of a successful b/w is very dependent on the color management with the b/w conversion being the last step. I don't know what specific pp approach was taken here, but given the bland color of the example, I suspect some color management first. Good Job.

Many years ago, a photo instructor friend mused that in all his years of instruction, to hundreds of amateurs, pros and wannabes, he observed that the nikoners were the most obnoxious about their gear, than all other participants. He shot all the brands over the years, but most enjoyed Fuji, the photographer's camera, as he called it. The fact is, Nikon has fallen pretty far behind in the mirrorless race. I'll be keeping my 3 nikons. I don't think my photography will improve in any measurable way by switching to Sony, especially at age 75!! We all know this. The real tragedy here is the loss of so many other brands to the cell phone. I'm not sure we committed amateurs and the decreasing numbers of pros can even keep the remaining companies in business for long. I wouldn't be surprised to see Nikon give it up within 10 years. Not good for all of us.

Thanks for the info. I was there about 8 years ago on a "Semester At Sea" ship cruise between semesters. Found the village very photographically exciting, as they say, "target rich." I hope you'll share more photos. The locals shared stories of the storms breaking over the mountain immediately to the East. Rich history.

Good morning. I'll take the camera and assorted peripherals. I have too many lenses already, so don't need any.
You can contact me at david.skiman.mack@gmail.com.

Very nice, as above. I like what you did with the highlights of the flowers leading to the barn. Great color rendition. I can see you struggled with the tone of the sky. Great job. BTW, where is this?? Interestingly, it has the same morphology as Mt Eiger, in miniature, of course.

Let me add my two cents worth. First, we all have different learning styles and needs. I need a general background initial idea, then a logically structured methodology to put it all in place. Professionally, I enjoyed attending post grad courses with a good syllabus, plenty of time to ask questions and then home study. Long gone with "the on line world." Same has happened to the traditional P/S 2 to 5 day courses. Mark Fitzgerald offers LR classes via his web site, "Digital Darkroom," from Portland Oregon. He offers personal on line tutor help as well. In terms of P/S, I took what I consider the best class ever, "Learn P/S in 30 days" with 10 to 20 min classes at your leisure by downloading them and taking them at your pleasure, reviewing the vignettes as often as you like. The cost was about $60, offered by Blake Rudis at f64 academy. In addition, he covers all sorts of everyday issues with free tutorials on his web site. I would invite you to listen to a few and get a sense of what does. I'm 75 and my brain just doesn't work as well, I really appreciate this methodology. I've tried all the suggestions given above, but none of it stuck because I just didn't get the big picture. I particularly appreciate the remark about learning what the photo needs, that takes a lot of practice and work, at least for me.

Clearly a wide experience of users which is the beauty of this format. I have a sony a6000 and the menu is frustrating. The Japanese cultural mind set makes it difficult to make institutional changes, so I'm not holding my breath for a overall menu change unless dire financial circumstances demand it for survival. But the images are great.

Thanks again for all of your comments.

A lot of folks confuse PPI and DPI when talking about ink. We tend to get all titillated about ink costs associated with printing, but its the cost of the paper that eats a hole in your wallet!!!

I'd like to thank all of you for your erudite comments. Decision made: I won't flirt!!!! I'm checking right now with the value of the kit and the cost of the switch. I'm 75 and probably have about 5 to 7 years of reasonable activity left, given all the health issues that slowly raise their heads as we age. I don't need 15 lenses anymore, just need a good walk-around, medium and long range for wild life and a wide angle, maybe 5 or 6 total. The darned thing is, as more folks switch to mirrorless, the DSLR' s become less valuable. Fulfills my lifetime goal of buying high and selling low, LOL!
