Try GnuCash. It should import your Quicken files.

Another vote for LibreOffice from me. It is essentially the same as OpenOffice (the same source code base) but development seems to be more active. The spreadsheet component seems to be fully compatible with MS Office documents, sometimes imported Word documents need a bit of reformatting.

Try both, if you don't like them you can bin them, and it costs you nothing but a bit of time.

Is it real simple to send files to someone with FTP?
How do I connect to their computer?
Do they need to be running FTP also?

No. They need to be running an ftp server, which is unlikely. Try Dropbox or one of the other solutions suggested.

I had the same frustrating experience with my Canon printer. The best results I have had so far have come from using Ilford Galerie smooth pearl paper along with the ICC profile supplied by Ilford, and letting Lightroom control the printer. I'm afraid it's just a case of trying different combinations until you find one that suits you. Ilford seem to have ICC profiles for nearly any popular printer.

I have the cheaper Canon ip87xx series (actual number varies by country) attached to a Mac. While it supports a wifi connection, it uses a different printer driver for that connection which is not as comprehensive as the USB connection. It cannot use ICC profiles for example. I'm not sure if this applies to the Pro series, but I would certainly check before planning to put the printer on the other side of the room.

Thanks, Richard - it was a nice quaint place.

As to TI - that would have been too easy for me to consider, so I wondered whether you got something there. I looked at the place on Google Map Street View, and it is definitely not a Tourist Info center NOW - it is housing a local farm market, but who knows what was there in the past. But actually I don't think this is it, as the TI was spelled "Ti" and I assume is part of a local breton name or expression .... let's see if somebody in the know comes in. Thanks for trying!

"The house of cakes" in the Breton version of Gaelic.
