I get great color prints on my Epson R2000 but my B&W's come out bluish. I have changed my Mac to Greyscale and still they are bluish. Anyone have any suggestions. Thanks

In looking at the specs online that printer should be able to produce quality (a concept that is always "up for grabs") prints. It has 8 inks that include matte and photo black. What settings are you using? Is it the matte black or the photo black that is a problem? Are you using the correct ICC profiles for the paper? Could the paper be the problem? Are you soft proofing to check how the print will turn out in BW on a particular paper? The paper does make a big difference. I have the R3000 and it does a great job with both color and BW. Check all your settings and be sure that your BW image has taken advantage of all of the possible tones so that it does not turn out muddy.

B&W print is good. Sharp and contrasty just bluish tint. I have the right paper profiles and using Epson glossy paper. Makes great color prints just bluish black and white. It looks B&W on the screen and the color prints look correct on the screen.

Bring up your Epson Printer Utility software and run a print out of the Nozzle Check. It is possible that one color is not laying down correctly.

I have cleaned it and printed a test pattern everything is fine. I know I have read somewhere that you have to set something to get B&W but can't find what. The blueish. tint is normal for B&W if you don't do something.

I have Canon Printers so take this lightly but... might be something to try I print out of Photoshop an d let Photoshop have control of the printer and the paper profiles when doing Black and white I let the printer control the print makes the black and white prints just amazing compared to letting Photoshop handle it

If you are using the B&W adjustment layer in Photoshop to create your B&W files, try using a small amount of tint color. For example a mild sepia HSL = 34° 2-4% 85%. That has worked for me to cancel a slight color bias.

Changing to MAC has no effect of the printer, except the origin of its instructions.

I have an Epson R2400 and when the printer is in control, I get excellent color and B&W prints. Hope this helps.

I had the same frustrating experience with my Canon printer. The best results I have had so far have come from using Ilford Galerie smooth pearl paper along with the ICC profile supplied by Ilford, and letting Lightroom control the printer. I'm afraid it's just a case of trying different combinations until you find one that suits you. Ilford seem to have ICC profiles for nearly any popular printer.

I have the Epson R3000 printer, where I have the choice of Advanced Monochrome prints (as opposed to colour printing) and the choice of Warm... Neutral... Cool in B&W. Do you have these choices in your printer?

In addition to the software setting, most printers have a gray-scale setting in the printer properties menu. I usually choose the "black ink only" option, which eliminates the possibility of any color in the print. HP thinks the best quality B&W print is made by a combination of CMYK inks (HP Officejet Pro 8600). I have found that not to be true in my case. >Alan
