Those are neat pictures. They are nice and clear and you caught him on the move!
I used to see them while back packing in the Beartooth Mtns near home, but could never catch them on the move .
Post some of your Pika pictures if you have some as good as the Marten pics.

Very nice pictures. Equal to the best I've seen. My goal is to take bird pics this good----or close!
First of all, can I use your driveway??
Ken
I have lived 40 miles away from Billings all of my life and have only been inside once. My daughter got married there 9 years ago, and I didn't have time to check it all out, but what I have seen is very nice.
The depot is also located in a historic district that a lot of restoration has been done.
I guess I need to slow down and see the rest of that depot and area.
I have 5 grandchildren that live in Billings and they are usually the priority attraction when I am there.
I also have a brother and sister that live in Billings.
By the way, nice pictures, I have never seen it in that light.
Take more pics the next time you are in town,I always enjoy your photography skills.

See, what I mean? They are also quite romantic!

Alaskan Brown Bears and Grizzlies are the same species, different local.
Yes, I know that Doc. I am guessing different locale means different temperament? Just in Montana alone there have been Grizzly attacks, mauling, and human deaths this year. Recently the death of the lady cyclist on the CDC in the town of Ovando. As a bear expert you know of quite a few bear attacks and maulings that take place just in Montana every year. So, I guess it must be the locale that makes the bear!
Whatever it is , I know of no one that will even think of viewing bears at close range.
However,I do believe the Grizzlies in the lower 48 should be protected. Long before the Wolf!!

I’ll pass on the opportunity as well. Photographers that close to wild bears isn’t for me !!
I can tell you are from Montana. I know of no sane person to want to get that close to a Grizzly
I see a woman just got a healthy fine in Yellowstone Park for getting too close to a sow and her cubs.
I think those Alaskan Brown Bears also have a mind of their own and I would never try to figure out what they are thinking.
It's not a beetle. It is a larvae of probably the beetle you may be asking about. It does all of the damage, not the beetle which could be a Potato Beetle.
The Potato Beetle has longitudinal stripes and has a hard shell. Actually it is quite attractive!

A great opportunity WELL done ! .......thanks for sharing
I thought I had seen almost every bird in Montana, or at least knew about them being here, but those two proved me wrong.
I can see a few more road trips in the future.
Those pictures are great.
Thanks for posting them,
Ken
Last week there was a lion chased up a tree about 2 blocks away from my daughters chicken pen. It had to be destroyed by the FWP. It was a 120 lb. adult male.
This was in Billings MT. where it is fairly common to see them . Usually they are stalking the deer in town.
This year is a record drought and hot spell and some of the wild animals come into town.

It's only about a 10 square block part of Portland and under the bridges that is bad. There is a lot of garbage from the homeless, but if you re sightseeing you won't see that. Just the core by the federal courthouse is really messed up. The homeless in Portland aren't nearly as dangerous as the homeless in San Fransisco yet, and there is only a small part of town that is unsafe at night.
If you want to go to the Japanese Gardens, the Zoo, the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, or any other tourist attraction they are still fine.

Yeh, you are right and I was just being a smart azz . I have friends that live in Portland, and they like it there!

I wouldn't go to Portland if you paid my lodging in the best hotel.
I agree with that completely, but I wouldn't care to go to San Francisco either!
There goes my 7200! I knew it is a good buy from shopping all over lately.
I will find another, but not at that price!
Ken
Sounds like a good buy to me and I am interested in purchasing it if the original poster doesn't want it.
Let me know on this forum via PM
Thanks,
Ken

And we would want to come in from Beartooth pass. I wonder if there is someone doing excursions in some type of snowcat or vehicle that could traverse snow. Maybe that’s only in certain areas of the park. I’ll have research it
The Beartooth Pass usually opens by Memorial Day . Sometime sooner but more times than not, it opens and closes again a few times due to snow and ice.
I live just a few miles from it and can go as soon as it is open. This year, I attended high school graduation in Red Lodge, on the 22nd of May (I think) and the highway was closed then. It was open by Memorial Day I think.
