This beautiful creature blessed us with its presence last night on an evening drive up to the mountains. Had never encountered a cougar before, this one was so nice to stand for a couple of minutes for some photos out of the truck window. I told it that is was so beautiful and such a good kitty! Forgive the poor quality, it was late and the light was just about done for. Enjoy!!
What an awesome encounter...not many people get to see one!
That is great quality and a beautiful photograph to boot.
When I lived in Colorado I lived in an area of maybe the highest populations of lions. I never saw a live one but I saw tracks and scat 20 feet from my front door. One spent part of a night sleeping on the trunk lid of a new car I had bought for my wife. Claw marks were in the hard rubber bumper on the rear and tracks in sand on the trunk lid. I once found a lion skull 300 yards from my front door. It had been killed by a bigger lion that sunk its fangs into the smaller but still full grown adult lion I found. They are beautiful animals.

I have lived in Wyoming all my life and spent countless hours in this mountain range, the big horns. Have never seen one! This was a very huge blessing!
Sorry about the quality??? I would self flagellate every day for a month if I thought it would give me the opportunity to get that photograph! Count your blessings and splurge on a steak dinner, I would!
Last week there was a lion chased up a tree about 2 blocks away from my daughters chicken pen. It had to be destroyed by the FWP. It was a 120 lb. adult male.
This was in Billings MT. where it is fairly common to see them . Usually they are stalking the deer in town.
This year is a record drought and hot spell and some of the wild animals come into town.

We have had several here in Sheridan WY and lots of bears! We spied a bear the same evening as the cat. I hate that they are destroyed. Some get relocated, but some come back looking for food. The drought is very hard on them. :(
I always have my camera in my lap ready to rock!
Fantastic! We have them in my area as well but have never had the good fortune to see one let alone photograph it.
