They were eating my air potato vines……
Largest ones are about 1/4 inch long, I’ve never seen one before??

It's not a beetle. It is a larvae of probably the beetle you may be asking about. It does all of the damage, not the beetle which could be a Potato Beetle.
The Potato Beetle has longitudinal stripes and has a hard shell. Actually it is quite attractive!

Thanks everyone……I haven’t noticed any potato beetles but I guess they just lay-an-go, very prolific

It's an American larvae. I can tell because it's obese like too many of our other citizens are!
