Highly recommend an induction stove top. Convection oven worthwhile as well. We bought Frigidaire because we got a good deal. Really happy with it. The induction stove top is awesome and safer. The induction stove top does require ferrous metal pots and pans.

Thanks, Mr. Shapiro,
I did not mean to get testy. My experience has been rechargeable batteries have not leaked, “so far” in any of my stuff. Alkaline batteries of any brand have all leaked at one time or another. I have been replacing the batteries in most of my remotes with rechargeables. Most of my leakage issues have been in flashlights which do not get frequent usage. I typically purchase Costco batteries for the price point. I may continue to do so and just replace the alkalines annually. Thanks for your post.

This thread has morphed beyond my original question. Do rechargeable batteries leak less than alkaline batteries. And why would a warranty be voided with the use of rechargeable batteries. My Olympus point and shoot came with rechargeable AA batteries. If in fact rechargeable batteries leak less why would a warranty be voided by their use? Any facts here or just opinion?

I have had several Costco AA and AAA batteries leak, mainly in flashlights. I have started using rechargeable batteries in many devices with the hope they are less prone to leakage. What say the crowd? Recently purchased some Energizer AAA non-rechargeable batteries for flashlights and other devices. I picked Energizer because the package stated “protects your devices from leakage up to two years after fully used”. We shall see. I may just start to replace all batteries in sensitive devices every January 1st. Are the rechargeables really less likely to leak?

Thanks to all who replied. When I asked the question I was not asking for purchase advice but, merely asking why or why not much conversation concerning Leica cameras. My early foray into photography was in college. My first camera was a Pentax H1A. Standard 50mm lens. I then added a 135mm lens. My next camera was a Mamiya Secor 500. I just had to have thru the lens metering. My acquired skills landed me a job with the college’s information services. From there I moved on to three years with NASA contractors at the NASA test facility in Las Cruces, New Mexico. From then on 35mm was personal use only. The camera of choice for that work was either a 4x5 speed graphic for still work or 16mm high speed motion for engine tests. Most fun job I’ve ever had. Government contract work back then could be a bit iffy. Went back to school and got my degree in accounting. Retired CPA getting back into photography. Back then I, as most of my peers, lusted for Nikon, Hasselblad and Leica. My current equipment consists of a Canon T5i, with the kit lenses 18-55mm and 55-250mm. I’ve also added Canon’s 50mm 1.4 and 85mm 1.8. I’m happy learning this new technology. WOW What a learning curve. If I’d known about UHH a couple of years ago I may have made different choices in the addition lenses. I’m currently happy with what I have. However, if I should win the mega millions lottery Leica and Hasselblad may get additional consideration.
Thanks again.

Most of the cameras discussed on this forum are Nikon, Canon, Sony and others. I don’t recall any mention of the Leica brand. The cost of Leica’s seem to be comparable to the heigher end Nikon, Canon, Sony and others. I’m curious. Do any of the UHH members have and/or use the Leica brand? If so, why or why not. Is it the cost compared with other brands? Is it features compared with other brands? What say the group?

When my wife an I perceived a problem with a new client or had ethical issues with an existing client in our accounting practice we used a four factor approach for our fee estimate. Cost factor. Profit factor. PITA factor. And NUMBER FOUR, How will this client/job benefit us? The PITA factor can only provide so much benefit before your sanity and reputation are irrevocably harmed. Go with your gut.

Nice pics. Old Mesilla was a favorite hangout while at NMSU back in the 60’s and 70’s. Was VERY different then. More Wild West. Live in SW Florida now. Drove through Las Cruces this past September. Got lost. 45 years sure made a difference.

We now live in SW Florida. Lived for over 30 years in Williamsburg. Saw many Christmas celebrations in the historic area. We were with a dance group which danced at many Groaning Boards during the Christmas holidays at the Lodge. Your photo looks like the Williamsburg Inn. Merry Christmas to all.
