This is kind of a different look at snow and ice.
The road had been torn up with traffic, and so I placed my camera about 2 inches above the ground on a little mini stand I had made.
I set the F stop to F22.

Alafoto, point taken, I looked at this incident from my POV, and chose my words without looking at both sides of this incident.

Every morning our older cat gets up on the counter in the bathroom where my wife prepares herself for the day ahead. She always gets to sit in the open window so she can survey the property. But now with winter approaching fast she is becoming very argumentative about having more time in the open window. At this time of the year she is lucky if she gets a minute or two. Getting her out of the window after that short period of time is now an all out brawl, which comprises digging into the windowsill with claws and a lot of growling and whining.

Thank you for your kind words guys. BTW that is her shadow on the wall.

Dennis. I did not imagine or assume what the police said to this lady. Given that I was standing across the street, it was early morning, and there were very few people about, I heard everything in the exchange.

No they didn't have the power to arrest her, only to tell her to move on because she was blocking a doorway to a business. And yes they could have been a little more compassionate, and she could have been a little less belligerent toward them. The argument escalated and both parties parted way finally when the police realized that I was not the only person now watching this argument.

I love street photography.... I need to spend more time in this realm.
I know this is a really tight crop, but I wanted the viewer to feel like the small boy in this photo.
The expression on his face as he walked along the street with his older sister. He was peeking out from her side, his eyes darting about ,watching everything.
I zoomed in closer in the post process to catch that feeling of wanting to be closed in, protected, uncertain of where I was going.

There was something fascinating, as mush as it was sad and horrifying, about this photo.

The police stopped and questioned her; and told her to move on or they would arrest her.

I had a long lens on my camera and I was across the street. I watched her walk along slower with her head high with all the dignity she could hold in her heart, and her whole world in the cart she pulled along with her.

Ignoring the fact that you all think I am some kind of low life uneducated wannabe..... you are all entitled to your opinions.... it shows me however that none of you have any sense of humor and you judge a persons worth for anything at all by how they dot the I's and cross the T's. I find that typical of just about anyone in today's over inflated egotistical sample of humanity

LOL.... no Ed... just using the word as a comparison to explain my frustration with technology and how I am always having issues with computers and media streaming. I know I am not alone.... but sometimes I feel like I am just banging my head against the wall :)

hello Jim,
I took about 50 shots of people walking by, and each time the light was slightly different, of the people were facing a different direction. Some of the photos were rather dark and lacked detail inside on the tables. SO I think in this case if I reduced the highlights too much I would lose details in key areas inside the building.
Thx for looking :)

I like to get some alone time at my local coffee shop. And being that I am retired, I can choose the quiet times lol.
Also, living here in the NW USA at this time of the year we get a lot of very foggy mornings.
So armed with camera and a good vantage point... I experiemented w with getting, just the right balance of light and so on.

This what I came up with.

I am sure I can find some of you who would get a laugh out of this. Figured I would share to brighten your day.

ok so why do I hate Netflix??? I am going to add them to my list of entities that I love to passionately HATE!
Let me expand the reasoning here.
I am going to start my own movement... populated by myself, my-self, and the other self.... not a selfie OK!!
The movement is called tech luddite inc. if you don't know what a luddite is... google it.
I am going BACK to the wonderful tactile world of REAL books... board games.... yes BOARD GAMES that's those things that come in a box and not that crap that is blowing out our computer and TV screens, begging us to try the latest app for the latest impossible to understand game or program that is supposedly entertaining or productive!
Understand this tho… I am NOT opposed to advanced technology. This process, this medium absolutely has it's place in the world! BUT NOT entirely in my reality.
I am know as what would be called a selective luddite. I select a given technology that offers the LEAST path of resistance to a MINIMUM productive working relationship with that technology. This means that in my opinion and experience that I accept technology at a VERY BASIC level that allows me to function at an equally basic and minimalistic path through the tech jungle.
Lets take any high level computer function, in particular, any high level understanding of the vast assembly of media streaming process, networking, routing and so on.
My response?? WHATEVERRRRRRRRR!!!
It either works or it doesn't. If it doesn't... when then it gets ugly... and a VERY short time after that it goes into the "neverworld." The "neverworld" is that place where I throw this convoluted garbage, either literally or figuratively, never to have any desire to deal with it anymore.
Next week I will going onto further detail on just how many times I have to deal with the ridiculous convolution of so called tech English. Following my question, I am subject to several sentence of this absolute DRIVEL I am asked for a response. OH YEAH how wonderfully blissfully ignorant the person on the other end of the phone in assuming that I understood even ONE word of what was just said!!! More on this next week in the continuing adventures of a tech luddite!!

HAHA
Ian... and yes this is no joke.... this is where I feel I am every day in our wonderful world of technology.
