I tried a high line Sony APS-C camera a few years ago. I kept my Nikon D800 at that time.

I could never get my mind or fingers around the Sony menus or controls. Went back to a Nikon D5xxx.

Had a Z6 and now have Z50 and Z7ii. Enjoy them a lot and the Nikon menus and controls haven’t changed much. I’m 76 so they are likely the last cameras I’ll ever buy. Might need a few more Z lenses though. GASSed up on the 180-600 but need to wait till after Jan 1. In the mean time my 200-500, sometimes with 1.4 TC, works for me.

It seems many of you are ignoring OP's preference for having a viewfinder.

Not ignoring it. I had the same fixation. Easy to get over with today’s polarized screens.

I love that line from "Jaws" about a "bigger boat." I like carrying a small camera that fits into a case on my belt, but this Sony WX9 falls short. There's no viewfinder, and the picture quality leaves something to be desired unless there is lots of light. I think I'll start looking for a small camera. My cell phone is small, but it's a phone, not a camera. It doesn't have a viewfinder! 😂

In many situations, it's not practical to carry a DSLR or a mirrorless. I'm restricted to only two arms and two shoulders. I hope Human 2.0 comes better equipped.

iPhone 14 plus has three lenses, 45 MP, RAW images and great editor. It has taken over that role from my Nikon Z50. Keeping the Z50/for wildlife with Nikon 200-400 and 1.4 TC: up to 1000 mm effective.

Nice! One of my friends dad had a green one in the 50s. Very plush inside.

That's a good deal. For $100 less, you can get the 24-200mm f/4.0 It works well for me on a Z6 II. I imagine the sun will be shining in Israel.

The minimum aperture is 4-6.3. No issues with high ISO capability of modern cameras.

I'm starting to like this lens more and more. Again, I don't think it's outstanding in any aspect, but it's good to very good in most so far. I don't think the micro contrast is as good as my voigtlander primes, but why should I expect it to be? I'm going to try and shoot some landscapes and compare it closer to the Nikon Z 24-200 at the 100 and 200mm end and also the 300 f4 that's the F mount lens at F8 and F10 and see if the Tamron holds it's own against those 2 lenses. I suspect it will against the 24-200, not as sure against the 300 prime but it should be close enough for me to want to part with those 2 lenses and keep the Tamron. I have the 24-120 S lens as well. So between the 20mm prime, the 24-120 and the 70-300, that should be all I need for landscapes in the future since I dont do astro and most of my images are at F8 and F10 for landscapes. Not all of course but the 20 is a f1.8 and the 24-120 is an F4, but you likely knew that already :0

Can you give a clue as to what “this lens” is?

I have a Z7ii. There were two reasons I went to it from my Z6: SD card (less expensive and fits in my computers), and more MP because I mostly shoot wildlife and often crop a lot. I was missing my D800 and the Z7ii fixed that. Plus the Z7ii has some extra likable features. It will likely be my last camera purchase (76).

The only thing about the Z8 I like is the lighted buttons. I much dislike the larger size and weight. If I do video I use my iPhone. So not in my future.

Have had a profusion of birds in my yard this year. One we never saw here before is the Western Tanager. Also a variety of hummingbirds, Lazuli Bunting, Many Finch of different colors, Black Head Grosbeak, Bullock Orioles, occasional Magpie, and the usual hundreds of Quail.

Mr photog...yes there is a difference front to back. Take one, look through it and see for yourself. This is not true for linear filters.

I’ll give that a try.

My initial reaction was that front to back orientation makes no difference. Can you explain why or how it can matter?

EDIT: Ok, did a little research. Found my initial thought was correct for linear polarizers such as lens filters of old or sunglasses. Today’s camera filters are called CP or circular polarizers for reasons not important here. They are actually two different filters in sequence. The effect on light differs due to which filter it passes through first. So your point is correct for CPs.

What is it?

Advertised as a plug in to lightroom to enhance image quality. May have originally focused on Astro Photography but now promoted for a wide range of image types. The order page I saw offered three free ebooks for different types of images. One was landscape which caught my interest.

Not familiar with, but it is offered free. So my question is, what's to worry about? If it doesn't work for my type of extended photos, I can just delete them. Thanks for the update. Hope to enjoy them.

I didn’t find it free but had suspicious pricing: over $200 marked down to $23. Where did you find it free?
