I love that line from "Jaws" about a "bigger boat." I like carrying a small camera that fits into a case on my belt, but this Sony WX9 falls short. There's no viewfinder, and the picture quality leaves something to be desired unless there is lots of light. I think I'll start looking for a small camera. My cell phone is small, but it's a phone, not a camera. It doesn't have a viewfinder! 😂

In many situations, it's not practical to carry a DSLR or a mirrorless. I'm restricted to only two arms and two shoulders. I hope Human 2.0 comes better equipped.

Do you want a TTL viewfinder? I have a nifty (but old) FujiFilm FinePix F45fd I bought a number of years ago when I was in a "downsizing" mode. For its age, size and weight, it's still a pretty handy camera. Loaded with more features than I will ever use, it has a number of advanced settings that make taking JPEG photos a breeze. Only 8.3 megapixels, and having only an LCD screen and not a viewfinder per se, it was probably the first camera I bought that did not. But for hikes, beach campfires and just friendly get togethers, its built-in facial recognition and multiple scene settings, it does a passable job capturing memories. It also has a decent video ability, and I used it extensively on my first trip to Bryce Canyon.

I'm not trying to sell you on this particular camera, I'm simply pointing out that handheld point-and-shoot cameras exist, and they can be surprising in the quality of output they produce.

You have an interesting camera...Sony's WX9 has a 5x Zoom, it features "including Sweep Multi-Angle - a 3D shooting mode sweep that lets you view images moving in simulated 3D right on the WX9's display by tilting the camera back and forth and a Backlight Correction HDR feature that compiles the highlights, mid-tones, and shadows from three separate shots to create a single image with a wide dynamic range."

16 mp and a mall speck of a sensor is OK with Topaz AI and Gigapixel as I demonstrated with a JPEG highly cropped image from a 2000 image with my Kodak DMC4800.

You can with this camera add a 37mm screw filter lens add-on adapter. No viewfinder... just add a shade and a flip-down magnifying [normally used for eyeglass] addon then if needed a BBall hat.

Jerry, milk this little beast for more... The duplicate camera pack on the other side will hold all the needed 37mm accessories.

Be patient about Human 2.0. Tesla Bots division can work with Tesla Neuralink and can give you thought-controlled mechanical arms. Eventually, thru stemcell, implants grow the additional Arms controlled by Tesla Neuralink.

Couple of options:
1) Sony DSC-HX99. It’s quite small, can actually fit in my T-shirt pocket. It has a view finder which is good. 30x Optical Zoom.
2) Panasonic DC-ZS-80D. It’s larger than the Sony. Can not fit in my T-shirt pocket. It also has a view finder and 30X optical zoom.
Both have their plus’ and minus’
Price wise, about the same.

In other posts you've written that you shoot video. Al Beatty suggested you consider an RX100. He uses the third version. The current 7th version is very video friendly. Unlike many small cameras and previous RX100s, it does not have the 30 minute recording limit. It also has a mic input and, for longer shoots, can be powered by a USB power brick.

There are two things wrong with the RX100VII. First is price. The second is that it is so stuffed with features, it can be hard to master.

For a "pouch" or pocket camera, I don't think there is anything better. And, yes, it has a viewfinder.

If I'm not mistaken, the HX99 has a pop-up viewfinder that might seem flimsy. Panasonic makes the Lumix DCZS80 which is similar with a solid viewfinder. It might be a shade larger. I love mine. For a model with a much larger sensor, the DMC-ZS100 or -ZS200D is available, 'tho with a lesser zoom.

Spending $500 - $1,000 for the convenience of a small, occasional camera is not in my plans.

Jerry, After much research and questions on UHH, and comparisons of Canon, Panasonic and Sony models, I bought the Canon G7X Mark III a couple of months ago for a future trip to Italy in July. I didn't want to take my R6 or R10 with a few lenese, so was looking for a small alternative. I've been using, and playing with the G7X, and am quite impressed by its quality, feel in my hands, and functionalities. It is a fabulous little camera that fits in my pocket, and the photos are terrific. Check it out, I'm sure you will not be disappointed.

Yes, I've looked at that several times over the years. For my limited needs, my Canon SD800IS from 2007 ($312) will have to do.

It's too large and too expensive for my purposes. I want something that will slip into a belt case. I'll stick with my 2007 Canon SD800.

I agree. I love my Canon DSLR camera but also loved my Canon G11 P&S camera which I used for 10 yrs or so. A local thief liked it so it was taken from my truck. I miss it very much.
