The M IV is a pretty decent camera, the 6D M II is pretty much just crap (it has the worst sensor that Canon has ever put out!)!

Having used the most 6DM2 for two years I am going to respectfully disagree with that. The camera and sensor are very good.

I'm plotting a trip to Yellowstone (driving from SC to there to AZ to SC) in late August-October. Looking for advice on best places to stay and things to NOT MISS for travel/nature/food & wine photographers! (both in Yellowstone and/or along the way.)

I'm not really asking for hotel recommendations (unless you have some!) but would like town names that would put us close to the gates in the park to make the most of our time.

We're both seniors - healthy, but not mountain climbers! ;-) Celebrating my RETIREMENT from teaching - whooo-hooo!!

Thanks in advance!

We stayed in Gardiner, MT for the first two nights of our stay and explored the northern reaches of the park. After that we stayed at one of the lodges in the park for the remaining four nights. Staying inside the park is not cheap but huge on the convenience factor --- we could walk to Old Faithful. As for what to see, Mammoth Hot Springs, Old Faithful, Yellowstone Falls, Yellowstone Lake, Artist Point, Grand Prismatic Spring, the Geyser Basin...its all stunning.

One thing to be aware is that the park is huge and it can take a couple of hours to get from one area of the park to another. Especially if you are there in the summer when the park will could be packed with families. The other culprit is road construction can slow things done a lot. We were there in the middle of September and it was still fairly crowded and we did run into road construction delays.

Also on your way south to AZ don't forget to hit Grand Teton NP and Utah is simple breath taking. Try and spend at least a week (or four!) there. The mighty five are all tremendous National Parks.

I am not very computer literate. I struggle with post camera processing. I normally shoot Raw images and process them using Aurora HDR and Picassa. Here's my problem. When I process an image so that it looks good on my pc screen it shows much more contrast when viewed on my large screen tv. It also look different when it is printed. I print larger prints, up to 30x40 inches. Is there any way to resolve this problem so that what I see on my pc screen is what I see on my large tv and the final print?

Just went through this process with Adorama Printique. I uploaded 20 jpegs to their site and ordered 6x9 prints on metallic paper because the wife and I have decided to print on metal (personal preference) and we thought that would give us an idea how things would look first. A week or so later the prints arrived and they were all decidedly dark. At first I thought it was my monitor's brightness and the whole backlit issue (photos on displays appear much brighter than prints because light comes from behind rather than reflected with prints).

I thought the solution would be to dim the monitor (I use a Mac and normally keep brightness around 75-80%) to approximately 50% brightness and reprocess the images would solve the problem. Before I did this I emailed Printique and told them of the problem and asked for some guidance for future printing. They responded within a couple of hours that they had a glitch with their process and would be reprocessing my photos and sending them again.

So, I'm not sure how this will be resolved. One note, I did not have any problem with the colors. They all looked fine. Printique offers a color correction option which I did opt for. A

As for processing I use Luminar 4 which doesn't offer a print module a la Photoshop or LR. I'm strictly an amateur so the only people to please are me and the wife.

My niece is an accomplished and avid photographer shooting with a Canon T3i Rebel and wants to move up to FF. She lives in a target rich area of NW Montana, and shoots landscapes, wildlife and astro. She wants to be able to make enlargements of those really special shots. Not being a Canon shooter I am not much help for making recommendations. She's thinking used and her budget is $1,000.00 or less. I told her to check out KEH and Adorama. I recommended she start her search with either the EOS 1DS Mark III or the EOS 5D Mark III, which are within her price range on KEH. I would appreciate advice from you Canon shooters that I can share with her. And lastly, will she really gain that much moving to FF over a high end APS-C, seeing that her current glass is for APS-C? She's also looking to add a high dollar telephoto to the FF for wildlife. Thanks for your expert help on this matter. Elmo

Based on the type of shooting she does landscapes and wildlife, I think a refurbished Canon 80d would the bill and budget nicely. Buying refurbished saves some money which I have I done a couple of times and the equipment is basically brand new and has a warranty. The 80d can be had for $900.00 on Canon's site.

I enjoy how we can help each other, in photography and many other ways too. This is one of those "other ways".

I'm using an iMac with High Sierra, although I doubt the OS has much to do with it. I also use Chrome, and prefer it over others for the Apple. But about two weeks ago, I'm getting a nuisance top-right corner pop-out with the Chrome logo in it. Right now it says "Search For Car Donation", below on line two: freshbreakingnews.com" and below that "#Yahoo! Search".

I've reduced the size of my browser, so that it doesn't cover the corner where I would click the + sign for a new tab. To make matters worse (and here is where I'll appreciate your help), as I continue to teach remotely from home, I want my students to send me e-mail, at any time, to ask questions. Now my e-mail client (?) pushes out a similar top-corner notice, informing me of a new e-mail. I welcome that one. But with Chrome's thing staying on top, I must stop anything I'm doing on my browser until the e-mail notification retracts. I'd really like to get rid of the above mentioned Chrome constant and ever present pop-out. I've searched the Internet, but multiple attempts on 'settings' and things have not solved the problem. Any of you experience this too?

Under the Window menu item, select Extensions and see what is there and Remove any unwanted extensions that may be the cause of this behavior.

Burning and dodging are one thing. At least that was being done using the original negative exposed by the photographer and processed by the photographer.

If one wants to lean on the artistic license approach, fine. At least possess enough skills to have accomplished the photograph if the elements were there at the time of taking the photograph. Don't simply and randomly poke on buttons and selections until that "oh wow look what I just did" moment and call that an artistic accomplishment.

Why not? That seems at best, arbitrary and at its worst, sanctimonious. It is the end result that matters not how you got there.

Honestly don't get that view point at all.

I love how everytime these discusussions about photo manipulation come up, we get the great Ansel Adam's quotes. I'll tell you one thing Ansel didn't do. He didn't take a sky from one of Eliot Porter's photos and composit into one of his foregrounds.

If you compare the SOOC and the final result of that Ansel Adams image -- for all intents and purposes that is what he did though. The sky from SOOC looks nothing like the final product.

I understand your argument but I think there is something called artistic license that gives anyone leeway.

Well all is said and done, agree to disagree.
