A for me. Especially when I am trying to make sure I have the exposure set correctly. It is easy to take test shots, examine, and once you have it skip looking at every exposure.

I often use a Hoodloupe to check the image, it works especially well outdoors.

Back in the day is was manual all the time, including focus. Today the only time I use manual is with flash or studio strobes (with light meter). Now my cameras are set on aperture priority because I am concerned with depth of field on most of what I do. When doing sports, or action, I use shutter priority to control stop or action blur. There are even times when auto and program come in very handy; it all depends on what a person is trying to shoot and how fast you have to react to the scene. If I had to go back to all manual I would probably quit. All of this great technology has given us tremendous flexibility.

It is hard for me to believe the father of the bride would want to take pictures rather than enjoy the experience with family and friends. I think it a mistake for the daughter to even ask the father to take photos. But who am I to criticize? Whatever floats your boat.

Hooray! Great idea and thanks for the tip on Mike Browne. I have the equipment and have had for years. The problem I face is one of composition and just "seeing" what ought to be captured. The camera is there and has all of the necessary adjustments available, it is all up to my eyes and brain - and that is where I can use the help.

I have Canon cameras and use Canon batteries on all. On two of the cameras I have Promaster batteries as backups. They work OK but do not hold a charge as long as the Canon batteries.

Roberts - Indianapolis and Carmel, Indiana - the only place I shop. Great people, very knowledgeable, helpful, and excellent used equipment. I use them (each store less than 30 minutes away) exclusively - I hope they never go away. They also have a very good rental program so you can try something before you buy - can't beat that.

I have a Canon SL1 with an f/2.8, 24 mm pancake lens that I use as a walk-around street camera. It makes me think and work a bit harder at my photography, and it makes me use my legs - the only way I have to zoom. It is a bit nostalgic for me, also, because it reminds me of my younger days when all I had was a small, fixed lens, 35 mm rangefinder camera. Simply put, I have fun with it.

I live in the Indianapolis area and use Roberts for new and used gear and I have nothing but the highest praise for them. They have a great crew that is very knowledgeable and they are eager to share their know-how and experience. I have used both their Indianapolis and Carmel stores and both are excellent.

I was asked to do something similar and said no, hire someone. I wanted to enjoy the reunion and not be bothered with having to worry and fuss over photos. They did hire a photographer and everything worked out beautifully - and I had a good time.

I know several photographers who have switched to M43 and sold all of their DSLR gear and have no regrets. Their claim is less weight, less bulk (they seem to be able to get everything in a fairly small bag), and satisfactory results. I am hanging on to my Canon DSLR gear, although it can get heavy while carrying it for a long period of time, because I am so familiar with it and don't want the hassle of learning a new system. Or maybe I am just too lazy to learn a new system.

LaCie (Porsche Design) - they are small and portable and not too expensive. I have four of them.

I would use the 24-70 and probably shoot neat the 24 end. To minimize the distortion I tend to shoot loose and crop in post production. By shoot loose I mean give plenty of room on the edges, all that extra space is easily cropped.

I buy everything from Roberts Camera Store here in town - Indianapolis - great folks to deal with and they carry about everything you could want and will order for you if they don't have it. Advantage: they are knowledgeable and will help you understand what you may need. I prefer dealing with people face to face rather than through the internet or on the phone. Therefore, I have no advice on internet providers and can only say to shop your local camera shop. If you are not near a good camera shop, well...

I prefer to do as little as possible...but, as most have said, "It depends." For fun shoots of the grandkids playing soccer, or a birhtday party, I use jpeg and usually have little or no adjusting to do. When I want more out of the image I shoot raw and work with that. The tool that gets the biggest workout is the crop tool; I tend to shoot loose and tighten it up with the crop tool. I do not like to sit at the computer for hours making adjustments to an image; if it happens that way I didn't do a very good job of capturing the image in the first place.

1- Several film cameras over the years - favorite the Canon Elan 7Ne - but sold all of my film equipment to buy digital equipment.
2- Used them all at one time or another. In the early days I had one camera at a time. I have four digital cameras now - Canon 5D, Canon 5DMkII, Canon SL-1, Canon G12.
3- My favorites are the 5D and 5DMkII because they have the options I need and give me the quality I want. My first SLR was a Canon Rebel (film) so I have stayed with Canon because I know the operating system and have the lenses. I use the SL-1 with a 24mm pancake lens as a walk around camera. It forces me to see things differently and think differently about what I see and how to photograph it. And it provides a bit of nostalgia - memories of my old single lens, range finder cameras from the film days. I use the G12 when I have to carry light and take snaps.
4- Capturing the art in manufactured products with emphasis on antique farm implements and tractors and their components. Also, Ag scenes and family.
5- I haven't posted here but may. I belong to two camera clubs and post on their sites.
6- Not in my work.
