I have many slides, but few trays. I would love to have the Kodak Carousel slide trays. I have a Carousel Projector. They would make viewing my slides much more convenient. How many trays do you have?

I still have my Pickett, and another more impressive in "Rosewood, but my favorite is an extended (double) length engineering calculator. Because they work with sliding logarithmic scales (multiplication is adding the length of one logarithm to the length of a second logarithm), your example of multiplying two square roots would be of little challenge. I once took a fascinating college course in "Number Theory"....where the objective was to make/construct a working slide rule. Now....that's how I REALLY learned the relationships of numeric scales!

I'm guessing that Casio will remain in business. It will simply discontinue manufacturing cameras.

I still have my POST Versalog slide rule which was given to me by my parents as a high school graduation gift in 1966. It got me through college. During my college years the "high tech" four function calculators came on the market. They were very expensive. We still had to use slide rules in examinations because the professors said those with calculators would have an unfair advantage and most students couldn't afford them.

My how times have changed and for the better!

I own a Canon 80D and am considering the new Tamron 18-400. I like the idea of using it as an all purpose "walk-around" lens, particularly for travel photography. I'm living in Lima Peru and will be here for another year. Lima and most of its west coast is a dry dusty desert. One appealing feature would be not having to change the lens often which would reduce the amount of dust introduced into the camera.

What are your thoughts? How would the quality of the images be with this zoom? Do any of you own this lens and what has been your experience?

Hi all, question on travel to Peru. Reading the entry custom info they state that you can only bring in 4 memory cards or pay 12% duty on the others. Heading there next week and my camera takes two cards (i shoot one raw and one JPEG and usually backup to my laptop and save the card as the second backup (I usually bring 10-12 cards). Anybody had any problems with more than 4 cards or any other issues? Thanks in advance.

I've lived in Lima, Peru for the past six months. Went to Machu Picchu and Amazon last week. I brought six memory cards into the country along with a Canon D 80 and a Canon SX60 bridge camera. I had all my camera gear in a backpack as a carry on. Went through security and customs with no problems. They didn't even examine my gear. They were more concerned about my knee replacement which set off their alarm.

I've also traveled to Colombia with no problems getting my camera gear through customs or security.

Have a great trip. Peru is full of photographic opportunities.

I recently moved to Lima, Peru. I´ll be here for eighteen months. I have a Canon 80 D with three zooms lenses and a 50 mm prime. Humidity remains 80-90% year round and the air is full of dust. It never rains here. We dust our apartment at least twice a week to remove a thick layer of black dust from all horizontal objects.

I thought I noticed a post recently that humidity could be a problem with zoom lenses causing moisture to enter the lens. I assume dust could also be sucked into the lens. Is this a problem and can it be remedied?

I'm also planning excursions outside Lima to the Amazon River Basin where humidity is severe and to Machu Picchu (dust and humidity shouldn't be a problem here).

I'm using a bridge camera until I get this issue resolved.

Advice appreciated.

I own a Canon 80 D which has worked well for me. I'm currently living in Peru where there are endless photographic opportunities. I've been thinking that it would be nice to have a single lens which would allow me to travel travel light without having to change lenses so often. I am a serious amateur photographer.

How much would I lose in image quality or is there an acceptable solution? I'd like to spend no more than $1000 US.

"BEST APP OF 2017 — AWARDED BY APPLE The #1 HDR Software for Mac & Windows"
Sounds like a great marketing line; might be the only HDR Software for the Mac!?

Not too sure if the #1 applies to Windows? There are a number of good HDR software products available for the Windows platform. I use and like both PhotoMatix Pro and Franzis' HDR Projects. Of course, you can also do HDR in both Lightroom and Photoshop w/o other packages.

That is good to know. Thank you. I'm considering enrolling in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Just saw an ad for Aurora HDR 2018. The ad made it look pretty convincing. What is all the hoopla about? It appears to be a post processing program featuring HDR.

I'm moving to Lima Peru for 18 months. I have a Canon 80 D with kit lenses: EF-S 18-55 & EF-S 55-250. I plan to buy an EF-S 10-18.

I don't want to carry around a camera bag, but would prefer some kind of pouch or sling. What do you recommend?

That is a tough choice - both excellent cameras at a similar price. The D7200 has a little better DR, dual card slots and no AA filter, while the 80D has a little higher frame rate, more AF points and a tilt screen (if that matters to you). Two suggestions: (a) try both and see how they feel in your hands and how you like the controls and menu system of each, and (b) look carefully at the available lenses for each and evaluate their respective availability and price against what you feel will be your future needs. Can't go wrong with either...

I took your advice and I'm glad I did. I went shopping at the local COSTCO and tried both cameras.

The grip and controls on the Canon 80 D felt much better to me, especially the shutter release. The first joint of the index finger on my right hand is missing due to an accident when I was a young child. The ergonomics of the Canon 80 D are much better for my situation.

COSTCO had the 80 D with two kit lenses sale priced at $1299.00. I bought it on the spot. Since I purchased the camera with my COSTCO Visa Card they extended the warranty to four years.

Thanks to all of you for your comments and advice. I am very happy with my purchase.

The 80D has an articulating touch screen which I have found quite valuable in taking photos of my grand children. The touch screen is also a big bonus when taking videos of their various events. My choice between the Canon 80D and the Nikon D7200 really came down to the articulated touch screen and as I use it, it really has become quite invaluable. I would also recommend the 15-85 lens, it is quite a bit sharper than the 18-135 that I started out with.

Thanks for your feedback. Today I went to COSTCO and examined screens from both cameras and definitely like the Canon's screen better.

I was about to buy the Canon 80 D, but wondering if I should consider the Nikon 7200. They are similar in many ways, both are good cameras. I'd like your feedback on which one you would buy and why.

I like to take travel photos, sports photos, grand children, landscapes and wildlife.

Thanks for all your comments. You've been very helpful.

I think I'll go ahead and buy the Canon 80 D.

I'm trying to decide if I should buy it from COSTCO with the kit lenses or look at some other options.

I travel a fair amount and like wildlife photography as well as city photos. I'll be going to Peru this fall.

Right now I'm using a bridge camera, the Canon SX530 HS. It drives me crazy not to have a viewfinder and I'm ready to move up to a better camera. It worked fairly well in Africa, but I think I will get better results with the 80 D.

What do you recommend?
