I think Apple’s 2tb for $10 is not a bad deal. I use it for all my photos in Apple photos and as a second back up to my primary hard drive.

I get the humor. But the humor is actually that you clicked on the topic, thought of a comment, wrote the comment, maybe edited your comment, and hit send. And I bet you are reading the comments about your comment. 😂. But you don’t care?

If I am traveling really light then everything goes in my pockets. Olympus body with Panasonic 12-32 pancake on the camera in one pocket. Panasonic 20 1.7 pancake in case I need a fast prime along with a 45-150 zoom in the other pocket and a spare battery.

My OM-D 10 II is my go-to body now. Luv the 5-axis body stabilization - noticeably better than my OM-D 10.1 - 3-axis, and the 2-axis GX7 Lumix! And, since I shoot mainly JPEG images, this II body is easier to manipulate settings in the menus. The 14-42 lens is freaky sharp and very light. My Sigma Art lenses also seem to work a tad better with this II body.
Plus, my adapted Minolta lenses seem easier to use - thinkin' that's jus' my magination', tho!!

Winner, winner ... Chikin' Dinner!!

I had an EM10-II when it first came out. Sold it and bought an EM10-III. Didn’t like the III. Sold it and tried various Other mirrorless cameras from Fuji, Sony, Panasonic. Ended up going back to the EM10-II about a year ago as my travel camera. It’s a little gem for cheap.

The Olympus 70-300 is a 4/3 mount not a micro 4/3. If you are looking for a micro 4/3 mount then it would be the Olympus 75-300. I have an almost new 75-300 I am willing to sell if that is what you are looking for.

Thanks for the reply and great link! If anyone wants to see a full range of I phone capabilities, this is it! A friend of mine is a wedding videographer. He fully acknowledges that an IPhone 14 Pro Max would meet his needs, but that he doesn’t dare show up at a wedding and pull out an IPhone! That would just not look professional!

Funny. I do the same thing with real estate photography. I have my Sony all set up on a tripod. But then I am also taking photos with my iPhone. Probably about 40% of the photos end up being from the IPhone. But if I am caught using the iPhone I just say I am checking lighting.

Anyone know a reason why camera manufacturers can't/don't make a camera with the features of a cell phone, without the phone. Would the still need cellular connectivity to do what they do?

Hmmm… like I use mine? Mini Computer, Sat/Star tracking, music, health, SOS Crash detection, word processor, dictionary, GPS, Maps, FaceTime, Zoom, Compass, tape measure, level, Scanner, calculator, language translator, Web Browser, Google news, Amazon orders, take Notes, weather, keep Contacts, calendar updates, Photo Editing, photo storage 100 gb, Watch tv/movies, Education, presently using 741 Applications on it… occasionally use it for photos and phone calls.
Don’t think you can squeeze much of that on a camera. Wait… the iPhone IS a camera, sort of! Huh…

I think you have me beat on apps. But I am about to hit 22,000 photos on my iPhone. 🤫 don’t tell the camera purists. It would be awful hard to find a photo among 22,000 using a typical camera menu. But I can normally find the photo I am looking for in seconds on the iPhone.

I just think it would be nice to have something that can slip in a pocket and could produce the images we see coming from phones, totally free of the phone. I don't pay a fee to use any of my cameras. That would change if the camera I'm imagining would have no connection except when I connect it to my computer.

You can buy a phone without a cell service plan. The camera will function fine. And many apps will work fine. If it is an iPhone you will at least need to connect it to Wi-Fi in order to get it set up and set up iCloud. And you will need to be connected to Wi-Fi to download apps or share photos. You can also buy an IPod which is an iPhone without the cell service. Apple has discontinued the iPod but you can still buy them.

No doubt. It is a great time to be a thief. My police friend says they don’t do anything at his precinct to investigate petty theft. They are short handed and can’t spend the resources on it.

Interesting that the question of will they replace the DSLR is a question of the future. Yet the answer is given comparing present cell phone tech. Very short sighted.

Hi. I’m sorry if you have that feeling about my comment.
I am 68. I started photography when I was 20 and started at the local University.
I worked in 35mm film, 2 1/4 film and 4x5 sheet film.
I shoot weddings, football games, portraits and wildlife.
A cell phone can not handle getting close to a quarterback 400 feet away.

Zooming is still the Achilles heel of most smartphones. My iPhone stays in my pocket when shooting sporting events unless I want a super wide angle shot.

I owned the 4k version of the Insta 360. It works as advertised and was a fun toy to play with. I used it on my racing sailboat to catch the racing action. One of the coolest features is that you can use their editing software to select the view at any second during the video to make a standard video instead of 360. It was like having 4 cameras on the boat but all mounted in the same spot. Also, it has a gyroscope in it. So it self levels the video. This was great to see the degree of heel in the boat in high wind conditions and allowed me to make some corrections to get more boat speed in future races.

My two negatives on it:
1. you need a powerful computer to edit the videos.
2. 4k is actually low resolution when you spread the 4k over a 360 deg field of view. So the video quality was not great. This was about 3 years ago. The new ones are 8k and I think even higher. But that higher resolution is going to make having a powerful computer even more important.
