Although I was born in Buffalo, New York I grew up in the Philippines. I was 19 when I came back to the U.S.A in 1971. To say I knew of American laws was laughable. I had no idea then that buying foreign lottery tickets was illegal. I ended up falling for the Canadian lottery scam in the 70's until I wised up and realized it was illegal. Unfortunately, it put me on the sucker list which after have lived in 4 states; have followed me over the 40 years since I came back. Needles to say I have seen more variation of the Nigerian scam in all its glory. It has even gone around the globe changing the name of the country, but not the scam. I have gotten the scam from Hong Kong, Canada, Australia, Malaysia etc. This is a new one but the same old scam. I have gotten the Nigerian scam in letters and in email. And as stated in a post there are some people who will fall for this and get dinged a lot of money as they will be liable for any losses. I have gotten thousands of checks in the mail with exactly the same instructions. Put this in the bank and send us the remainder. I took the checks to the bank and asked point blank are these scams and they said yes. They told me directly that I would be liable for thousands of dollars if it were not. I wish I could say I have seen it all, but alas human ingenuity has a way of coming up with new ones.

I took this California poppies with a 3.2 MP digital Olympus point and shoot. I bought it used on EBay for $75.00 and it lasted 5 years before it gave up the ghost. I laid on the ground and shot up into the trees and this was one of my earliest photos and one I am proud of.

If memory serves me, there is a huge airplane "graveyard" west and north of Tuscon... I don't even know if it is open to the public, but if so, you could get some interesting photos there.

It is called the Davis Monthan storage facility. They do give tours but by appointment only. You have to contact the base to get the information. I had wanted to take the tour but never got around to it. I lived in Tucson for 15 years and it has a lot of great places to see. Sabino Canyon is a must see, so is the Xavier del Bac church at the Indian reservation, At the end of Alvernon Street in the foothills is a trail that you can hike on. I found out it is still open. Hike up the A on A mountain and you can see the city and as far as it goes. I lived in Tucson in the 70's and it was a small city. The view from A mountain gave me the view of a city growing by leaps and bounds. Have a good trip and I hope you really get to see the sights as there are a lot. I used to go to Old Tucson before it burned down. They have rebuild it and I have not seen the new one. That is another place to see and it is near the vicinity of the Desert Museum one of my favorite places to go.

I am am eclectic phtographer. I like nature, animals and doll photography and travel when I am able. I love to experiment and when I fail, I let people know so that they can learn from my mistakes. I also do not take myself to seriously. I enjoy what I do and I try to make the images work.

Congratulations on your milestone. It is hard to get those views and one can be humbled and still have pride at the accomplishment. It means that your public value your work and are willing to look. By the way what is you flickr address?

Your efforts were worth getting off the couch. When I was BROKE and could not go travelling to my favorite spots, I found a treasure trove of photo opportunities in my own back yard. Needless to say I enjoyed every minute of it and got quite a few serendipitous photos I will never probably get again. You did a very good job on these set.

You are not alone. Most landscape work is derivative at best. Regardless of how beautiful a landscape may look, there are very few that have any true uniqueness to them. I myself have produced a few that I feel are quite pleasing, but at the end of the day there are 10,000 others just like them. Most travel photos are also incredibly repetitive unless you are able to capture a different slant on your subject. But the same could be said for almost every area of photography. While I would love to capture the image of a bald eagle, it's been done so many times before that its unlikely that I would be able to add value by creating another one. That's why I'm more interested in street photography, abstracts, and black and white.

I like landscapes as it proves that I was there. If it has been done many times before, here is my experience. I have wanted to take heron photos and when the chance came, I took it. It is my photo and I share my photo. If I wanted to put my photos in a competition I would first look at the past winners to see if I really want to join that competition. I consider myself an eclectic photographer as I do not stick to just one genre. I got my eagle photo and now I want another one. I like eagles and when I find the best photo I think is the best, the rest of you will get to see it. If you like it or not, that is up to you. If I post my experiments, you will find it a gem or it needs some work. That is why I experiment. Photography is your expression wether it is landscapes or street photogrpahy, animals etc. I like them all.

These are a gorgeous set of flowers. I too have taken a lot of neat photos of plants and flowers from Walmart garden center and Lowe's. I have not had any body come up to me to say no photographing.

Moreover, I use it a lot. Not every day, but several posts most weeks. I think it's a wonderful opportunity to show my work to, and get feedback from, my distant friends, and to thousands (millions?) of people on flickr that I don't know.

A new wrinkle that Yahoo has imposed is not one I applaud: you can only post an image to 30 groups, unless you have a paid account, a "PRO" account, in which case your new limit is 60 groups. I don't like the limits at any number, and I don't like the "pay to play" aspect of the PRO bonus. It seems to put a premium on posting to larger groups, which might inhibit the growth of newer groups and older, smaller groups, since you generally get a bigger audience in the bigger groups.

Still, it remains a free way to show my stuff around to friends and to strangers, and I intend to keep using it.

When I first joined I used to post to a lot of groups. But then, the rules got to be a little bit on the ridiculous side like 1 post fave and comment on 5. It got so time consuming that I realized that it was not that necessary that I post to groups. I still belong to a lot of groups that I have not posted to for a very long time. I liked that I got fave and comments and I got numbers. But as time went by, it got to be less important. What I have found since my work on flickr is in the creative common license, gets a lot of use on other websites. Some of the uses of the photo on the websites have been hilarious.

I have taken a lot of photos in my time and every time I get that one photo that turned out great will be my favorite photo of all time; till the next one come around and that will be my favorite of all time till the next one. Something tells me I will not have a lifetime favorite. If I will, I have not found it yet.

As a child I had a brownie, all the different size film sizes from the point and shoot cameras. I always enjoyed photography and still do. I consider myself as an eclectic photographer. It is the one thing that gives me joy as I can now take photos and still get a few turkeys but when I get that one that turned out great, it makes me feel that I have accomplished something. I do it for me.
