I ruined a pair of coated eyeglass lenses using the Zeiss cleaning wipes. The lenses were under warranty and replaced at $20 per lens. I asked the seller prior to use if it would be safe to use the Zeiss wipes on my glasses and was told yes. The eyewear retailer explained later that the Zeiss wipes are an excellent product, but should not be used for coated eyeglass lenses. However, it is just fine to use them on sunglasses.

Did the retailer offer advice on what would be a satisfactory substitute for the wipes? I suppose it would recommend the eyeglass cleaning fluids commonly found in opticians' stores. But what kind of tissue would be suitable, I wonder.

My Minolta SRT 102 qualifies. It was and still is an excellent 35mm film camera. It just preceded the Minolta line of automatic focusing cameras. It's match-needle focusing was a very short step from being automatic. With a trio of Rokkor lenses, 50mm, 24mm, and 135mm, it remains a powerhouse for making high quality pictures.

By a landslide, the Speed Graphic.

The B&H website contains information that the FotodioX X Pro adapter for Minolta lenses does not work with the Canon 5D Mark III.
Presumably the same is true of the Mark IV which I am considering. Possibly true only in Autofocus? Or the problem may be limited to the confirmation chip? Do you have any advice or suggestions?

I bought an adapter from B&H for $49 and have been using my old Minolta-Rokkor lenses on my Canon DSLR with great results. I researched these adaptors and decided that the one built by FotodioX with correction lens was best. No noticeable degradation in image quality, and no focus issues what so ever . The only limitation is that you can only shoot in manual or Aperature priority mode which is fine with me because those are the only modes that I usually shoot in . I wasn't going to give up all the light that my f1.2, 1.4 and 1.7 lenses offers me. To buy lenses new at these f-stops and of this quality would be VERY expensive ! I'd stack the old Rokkors and Nikkors up to anything out there, especially considering the fact that Minolta built many lenses for Leica with Minolta glass . These old lenses are of high quality and well worth $49 for an adaptor to be able to still use them. Give this adapter a try !

I just read that the Minolta to Canon adapter is not recommended for the Canon 5D Mark III. No explanation or reason given. I suppose that it is not recommended for the Mark IV either. Bummer.

I am seriously considering an adapter ring, without glass, to convert my Minolta lenses to my full frame Canon 5D.
My lenses are:
50 mm MC Rokkor PF f/1.7
24 mm MD W Rokkor-X f/2.8
135 mm MC Tele Rokkor-PF f/2.8

It appears that I can put these great lenses to great use on the Canon 5D as well as on a contemplated Canon 5D Mark IV which has just come down in price by $200. I think that ones with glass only lead to deteriorated picture quality.

Beautiful work. All of them. My favorite is #5 because its colors are less intense than the others.

Bill: Is your 300 mm a Canon lens and if so is it a L lens?

I do not have any advice on your question. But as one considering purchase of the Mark IV, can you share your opinion of this camera?

It seems that back button focus is not available on the Canon 5D first series.
It apparently began on the Mark II model.

I see that Canon is offering this lens for $1,999 after a $200 discount. But B&H is selling for $1,299. Wide discrepancy. Can anyone explain the difference?

I was referring to the Canon 100-400. Sorry that I did not specify.
