External battery for Canon 5D Mark IV

I will be shooting in a wilderness area for close to 3 weeks with no way to recharge the LP-E6 batteries for my 5D Mark IV. Much of my shooting will be night photography and long exposure shooting which drains batteries rather quickly. The battery grip for the Mark IV no longer allows using AA cells. To buy and carry enough fully charged, dedicated LP-E6 batteries would be prohibitively expensive and bulky. Does anyone know of a long lasting, external, battery driven power supply that will work for the Mark IV?

Have you looked at Wasabi batteries the rating on them is 2600 mAh as opposed to Canons 1850 mAh. I use them and are quite satisfied. You can purchased on Amazon!

Thanks, I haven't looked at those, but they seem like they would last less than twice as long as the Canon, so I would still need quite a few. I was hoping for something more like one or two 10,000 mAh batteries, possibly hooked up through a dummy battery. I've seen some 9v, 10,000 mAh batteries and can find the dummy battery, but the LP-E6 is a 7.2v and I don't want to put 9v in if it would damage my electronics.

Well I'll tell you what if you can find batteries of that kind of rating I'll buy them too. I have three pair's of the Wasabi batteries and they are the best in my book I've had these for four years now and have not and any issues with them. When fully charged they have out lasted the OEM Canon batteries. The cells in them are manufactured in Japan as
for assembly I'm not sure of?

I do not have any advice on your question. But as one considering purchase of the Mark IV, can you share your opinion of this camera?

Will you have enough available light to efficiently use a solar panel? Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Powerfilm-Flexible-MP7-2-150-PowerFilm-Inc/dp/B002MFLIT8

At 200 ma in full sunlight, it would recharge a standard 7.2 volt battery in less than 10 hours and is small and light. The idea would be to leave one battery charging during the day while off shooting with the other(s). Is that feasible?

Not sure if you're interested in something like this but this one stores 27Ah (27,000 mAh)and has a 110V outlet so you could just plug your canon battery charging unit into it and charge the batteries you have, here is the link

https://chargetech.com/product/portable-power-outlet/ and a review
http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/the-best-portable-ac-power-supply-so-far/

I think I read that it is only two pounds and $189

You won't be near a vehicle with a 12vdc system? a truck or automobile? If so, they do make chargers that plug into the accessory port.

There are hand cranked generators that will recharge your batteries in about seven hours of cranking.
1. Buy one such generator.
2. Train a monkey to turn the crank. That will cost one peanut every two minutes.
3. Take the monkey along on the trip.
4. Take a large supply of peanuts.

I would be surprised if you used two batteries in your shoot.

Stick two back up batteries in your bag or pocket...

My MKIV eats batteries! It has already been in service once to fix the problem but it still eats batteries. 2 batteries for a shoot even over several days would not suffice for me so I doubt it would work for him. I have 4 batteries and can go through them in less than a week when in the wild.

What if you got the Canon Ack-E6 battery adapter with the AC supply (maybe used on Ebay?), cut the wire from the E6 adapter to the power supply and then connected a AA battery holder with 5 batteries in it? You might have to modify it a bit. That would give you 7.5 volts (5X1.5) and you'd just have to carry a bunch of AAs with you.

Check out the Poseidon by Dark Energy. They are 9oz and 10,000 mAh. I know there are some discount codes floating around the interwebs also.

Odd...

Video eats up batteries and auto focus/ image stabilization is draining but I have shot 3000+ image live venues on one battery...

Always good to have back up power non the less.
