There is not much difference between 600 and 800 . i use an old 8oomm nikkor from the 80 s for birds , also at time but rarely anymore a 500 / 1000 vivitar . You are better with a sharper picture at 600 then add on a converter and end up with something not that great .

Have same , work well , the front element seat deep into the lens barrel , i dont see why they have a hood . So without the oversize hood on , a lot shorter .
If you dont mine manual focus , you can get a long lens from the 80 / 90 s like a 600 or 800mm fairly cheap .i paid $ 700 for a nikkor 800mm f8 from the 80 s in like new condition , great for birds . use it almost daily . Heavy , you cannot hand hold it . Today , i would get a tamron g2 150 / 600 , used are very affordable .

110 v is enough if you dont worry about a/c in house . A 3000w is under $400 . just make sure you start it once a month , and have a can of starting fluid when need it . also to shut off the generator , shut of the gasoline faucet and let it die that way .Have no issue with car gasoline in that , also with gas blower , chain saw , weed trimmer .Have enough extension cords .
