That’s a sweet offer for the right person. Unfortunately A) I needed one for a Nikon D7000 B) like the previous reply I just got mine from Amazon last week. Need it for Astrophotography, wish I had bought one a year ago. It’s been cloudy every day since I purchased it. But inside tests show it’s easier to use than the built in one.

As an insurance policy & for organization have you considered backing up your photos to Google Photos or if you have Amazon Prime membership to Amazon Photos. Both offer free unlimited backup.

Google will back up full size files up to 1.5TB free or unlimited they’ll compress them.

Amazon I think is unlimited hi-res files.

I back up to both, plus a local 4TB external drive and to iDrive.

Google Photos allows you to create albums or it can automatically create them by date or location. It also allows easy search by date, location, or even face recognition which it’s very good at. You can then look at and edit thru their APP the photos on ANY device and or share them with family & friends. I did a family portrait for our daughter with a Nikon DSLR. I DOWNLOADED them to my Win 10 Drive. Then uploaded them to Google Photos. My wife culled and did an edit for presentation on her iPad tonight. The results were immediately available on our iPhones. Tomorrow we will present them to our daughter, possibly on our large screen TV.

Google and Amazon daily send me images from this day multiple years ago. Google & iPhoto app even using AI create a memories slide show from similar images like a Vacation or Holiday.

Once set up both require No effort from me.
You do risk the chance that either of them could pull the plug 🔌 like so many others have in the past. But since they are not my only backup, the risk is one I’ll take.

I’ve been using a Dell Ultrasharp model 2413 a 24” LCD Monitor. I’ve been very happy with it. I Calibrate it using Display Cal and a Spyder 5-Pro. If I had to do it again I’d buy a Color Munki or X-Rite Pro because they have a better reputation. But I have had my prints either from a Lab or my Canon Pro-10 and Pro-100 match very well.

I saw your images on another post and I like the color. I used to hang glide so I really appreciate that image. Welcome to UHH.

I’ve had the Canon Pro-100 and Pro-10 for a few years. The Pro-10 is a pigment printer and more archival. High quality 3rd party inks are available from Precision Color Ink. Greatly reduces your printing ink cost. The issue is replacement ink will not match the longevity of Canon inks.

Also if you are going to not print at least every few days you will waste ink on the timed built in cleaning cycles that use ink to keep the heads clear. You may as well print because you’ll use ink and have nothing to show. I recommend the Pro-10 over the Pro-100 for long lasting prints. The deal from Hunts is real good.

I was blessed to find a brand new sealed in the Box Pro-10 for just $50 with ink & paper. Nabbed my Pro-100 for $125 with everything. Both from Craigslist.

I have both the Pro-100 and the Pro-10. I have also followed the Inkjet Printing forum by Jose Rodriguez on YouTube & Facebook for 2 years.

If you want truly archival buy the Canon Pro-10, not the 100. The 100 is dye inks, the 10 is Pigment 10 carts.

From following the forum unless you’re going to be printing constantly avoid the Epsons over the Canon. The Canon printers have much less issues with clogged heads

Precision Inks makes third party ink replacement for the Canon’s & Epson printers with excellent quality control and provides profiles for them free of charge.

Though if you’re selling prints and want the longest Archival life then you want to use OEM Canon inks.

I’d suggest you check into Jose Rodriguez’s group either before or after you purchase a printer.

I belong to the Tiny Shutter forum on Facebook and listen to their weekly podcasts. It’s a Photography Enthusiast site for iPhone users. One of the 4-5 moderators has an IPhone XR, his experience as a very serious photographer is the dynamic range on the XR is incredible, blowing away anything previously available in a Smartphone and most DSLR’s. As Leo Laporte said on his weekly technology podcast, while the lens and sensor on a Smartphone will never compare to a DSLR. The Smartphones produce a superior image because they are backed up by a dedicated supercomputer and amazing Computational Photography. That allows the Smartphone to do amazing DR by analyzing the scene, doing a burst, and combining them into a very realistic HDR image. Same with using 2 or more rear lenses to create portrait images that can be easily manipulated thru a jog wheel of lighting.

With the 11’s out this week, look for a new or refurbished 8+ The rear facing cameras were the same specs as the then top of the line iPhone X. My wife and I both have one. My only regret is not getting more than 64GB internal memory. I have many Photo Apps along with others, and need to delete about 15GB of Images in order to make more room.

I use mine for Astrophotography as well as photography. I use it much more than my Nikon DSLR because it’s always there and does such a great job with HDR, Portrait Mode, and Panoramic.

Be forewarned any of the Plus cameras will be Much larger than your 5C. But has an incredible screen. My wife was unsure going from a 5C to and 8+. But she’d never give it up now. If your eyes find tiny text hard to read, the larger screen along with upsizing your text size makes a huge difference in ease of reading texts & websites. Good luck in your upgrade.

Take a look at your local Facebook marketplace. On mine here in PA are two local D7200 with low counts for around $500. I’m in the camp I’d get it fixed if it’s otherwise in good shape. You know how you took care of it. Then save for a second body. If & when the Nikon mirrorless catch on DSLR bodies will be cheaper.

I think the Pentax is a great suggestion. There resale value is less than the Nikon & Canon. The K10 was very well reviewed in its day. The 4mp difference will not make much of a difference.

If you can find one in your price range I’d recommend a Canon 3Ti, which wasn’t expensive new and I’ve seen excellent images from experienced Astrophotographers.

You can get great deep space images by taking shorter exposures and then stacking them. You can take 60 20 second or even as short as 10 seconds then stacking them in free software. In order to capture long exposure images you need a quality equatorial mount with a accurate drive and a solid polar alignment. On top of that people use a second camera for computer controlled tracking. Much easier to make multiple shorter exposures.

One last idea. There are people now creating incredible Astrophotography images using smartphone cameras. Some of the best I’ve seen were made with an Apple iPhone 5se that can be purchased for about $99. You will also need an adapter to hold the iPhone to the lens. You can fire off the shutter with an $8 Bluetooth remote shutter. There are Apps available for the smartphone that once triggered the camera will take say a 10 second exposure 5x a minute for as long as you’d like. It may require stretching your budget a bit, but it can be done. I know I’m on a limited income from 4 Spine operations. I search Facebook Marketplace, my local telescope store, eBay to buy what I need at the best price.

I have an iPhone 8+ and love it. I’m a member of “The Tiny Shutter Podcast” Facebook users group and listen to their weekly podcasts. The consensus there seems to be the iPhone because of the Many Photo Apps.

That being said one thing the Samsung and other Android phones have over the iPhone is they usually have expansion of memory via SmartCards. Apple charges dearly for their memory in my opinion. I have 64gb and wish I had 128 or even 256gb

Apple is usually more cautious with there upgrades. Their latest phone is said to have 3 rear camera lenses while others have had that for awhile. So don’t upgrade till that release this Fall.

I wouldn’t let others influence you with “Its not a real camera”. With dual lenses & computational imaging my iPhone can easily capture HDR images that my Nikon doesn’t.

There are loads of APPS and accessory lenses that expand the capabilities. Moment makes great wide, Tele, & Macro lenses around $100 each. The App Camera +2 offers a great Macro Mode not requiring and additional lenses.

I’ve seen incredible Astrophotography images using Smartphones attached to a telescope using Apps like NightCap.

I suggest you go to Best Buy or the Phone store and see what feels good for you. But hold out for the latest upgrade in September.

I’ve captured many images I wouldn’t have because I always have my phone with me.

I can shoot, cull, edit even in PS or Lightroom, then share in minutes. Can’t do that with most cameras. And I can save in RAW and easily print 13x19” on my Canon printer.

Thank you for sharing. Some beautiful cars there. I particularly like the orange Z car and bright yellow Pantera. I love going to car shows where there is a great variety of cars and not the typical collection of Mustangs, Corvettes, etc.

Unless you need to freeze motion, or blur the background, or use low light, cell phones are fine.

With a proper App and a cell Phone with dual cameras all of the above are possible. Apple’s Portrait Mode on their dual lens / camera phones the 6,7,& 8 Plus, the X etc use computational photography to create a Portrait image with blurred background. With the Iphone Portrait Mode you can also edit the lighting effect after the capture.
