Millennials,
I know, the usual battle is between Nikon and Canon, but this is the 21st Century. I don't need to hear from the gray panthers. This is a different toy. Will those who know please state their reasons for using one smartphone/camera over another? Granted the technology changes rapidly but what camera is better today?

NIKON! This gray panther is reminding you that this is a photography site that most people will agree that if you desire to take real photos then you should use a camera, not a telephone. If you want to know who the winner is between iphone or samsung,, you should find out which one looks best to you.
Are you angry with me? Sounds like this subject upset you. It was addressed to the younger crowd. Are you among the younger crowd?

Haha, could be Canon then.......
(I don't discount cell phone cameras at all!)
Thank you Robertjerl,
I was hoping to have some personal experiences shared.

ArtzDarkroom - Pay little attention to camera snobs who are ‘just phoning it in’ and don’t know that camera phones, such as the one on my iPhone X have caught up and are definitely competitive with traditional cameras. I like the iPhone camera just fine, but I have to admit the camera on my realtor sister’s Samsung phone may have a slight edge. /Ralph

Actually I sort of hate smartphones, like tainkc "hates" cats.
I only have one because my wife decided her screen was too small to play Pokemon Go and Ingress and my flip phone's hinge was cracking a few years ago. I transferred my phone # to her phone and she got a bigger screen model. I am now using a 3 generation old smartphone and really have no plans to upgrade until it stops working.
And I am not too keen on Android in general - I can't seem to find or keep track of things like I can on a PC or even a friend's Mac when I had to use one while visiting.
I'm still using a Galaxy S-III, my first and only "smart phone".
Since many people don't have an iPhone AND a Droid, if they switched, they may be comparing older vs. newer technology.
To be a viable comparison, someone would have to be able to compare two current models.
Do you know anyone with both?
Longshadow,
No, I do not, good point. I still use my iPhone 6 and because I'm a Mac user for photography, I'll probably continue to use an iPhone. I was reading a review, sent to by RobertJerl and the Huawei seems like a pretty powerful camera. Some of these smartphones are more expensive than DSLRs, but they are multi-functional.

The best camera to use is the one you have with you. I do prefer the Samsung.

I have most of my hair in the same color it was in my youth, so even though I am almost 80, I will answer. I use a iPhone (apple) because it allows me to easily interface my appointment schedule with my wife who also has one. The reason that I have an iPhone 8+ is that I saw the pictures my wife takes with her 7, and wanted to improve from my 6. My opinion is that many of the pictures I take with the 8 are just as good for the purpose (social media) as my Sony a7III. My son has a different brand and his camera is just as good, but he rarely uses it.

Wow. I guess you pi$$ed him off. Prejudices run deep. I will stick with Mac. I own the stock.

First of all I am a Boomer and this past week I traded in my iPhone for a Samsung Galaxy S10+. My wife and I attended a rodeo over the weekend and I was shooting the events with my D850 and Tamron 70-200 f2.8 G2. Late in the show my camera stopped taking pictures...I had filled up the memory card and not anticipating that, I didn’t have an extra on me. I pulled out my new phone and used it to capture the last event.
I was blown away by the images I was getting as it was almost 10:00 PM by this time and the lighting in the arena was not very good. The quality of the pictures was much better than what my iPhone 6 could have done (I’m sure the newer iPhone cameras are much better).
