My visit to Rio was two short days of tours from the Princess ship. I am looking forward to you filling in the many gaps that we missed. I'm sure you will do a magnificent job in the next posts!

Thanks Ken. I'm known for my itchy shutter finger and you can't help but click away at every spot in every direction. About 7500 for the trip and close to 1K at Iguazu.

Sounds about right from my travel experiences!

I don't know if some or your entire trip is with a tour group or just on your own. But anyway, when you get to Rio de Janeiro there are many well know sites to visit. One modernistic building that I saw was the Catedral Metropolitana de Sao Sebastiao. It was built like a pyramid with the church inside and has a huge wooden cross hanging from the roof. To visit Sugarloaf MT it takes two chair lifts to get on top. There is a nice shaded walk between the two lift stations. The town is very mountainous so there are many tunnels around the town. We did not have much time as the ship only stayed for two short days. We took the tours that interested us. From the I love Lucy TV program I always thought the Copacabana was a night club. It is a beach area about a mile long right on the Atlantic Ocean! Very fancy and expensive looking!

Every time you turn around, there is another set of falls. Some small and others almost beyond description. I can see where it takes several days to visit them!

What an eye opener! I never knew that the falls were so spread out in many distinct areas. Sure wish I had gone to them. Thank you for bringing visuals of them to me.

These are truly a wonder of the world! I have not seen them and probable will not ever get the chance. I have seen the Nigra and Victoria Falls. All are impressive.

I have very much enjoyed following and viewing all the wonderful pictures and stories of the areas. This series about Buenos Aires is making me jealous. Of the two times I’ve been there on different tours I now see how much I have missed. Your filling in the gaps is wonderful. Wish I could go back there!

I love photographing haflas from around town. Hafla is a meeting or party for “Belly Dancers”. These are typically in restaurant type venues around here. Last week I went to one in a store front. They had a netting of white LED lights on the wall behind the dancers. In front and off to each side were LED color lights for front illumination. LEDs are monochromatic so there is no “white” light on the dancers. Also the general illumination was VERY low. Just what every photographer wants! I was shooting with a D850 with an f:2.8 lens. Shutter of 1/100 and let the ISO self-determine. The highest ISO I saw was 14,800!

Out of 300 or so shots I ended up with 47 edited files. No matter what I did with the trying to get “better” skin tones so I just gave up trying. Composition was edited using the nef files then saved as jpg’s. All were sent through Topaz denoise and about half also through Topaz Sharpen. I posted them on my facebook page. I have received more responses and likes than any other group I have posted! From the "small Talk" of the dancers afterward they all had a very good time that night!

Absolutely amazing! I'm in my nineties and can relate to them! My I repost these to my facebook friends? So many of them are products of "social" education.

I use Microsoft Power Point. Some times it gets a bit tedious resizing the pictures for each slide but what the hay, I've got time on my hands. You can convert the finale version to a pdf for distribution. if you like, give me a message and I'll send you a dropbox link for a couple.

I love taking pictures of haflas or belly dances. At one of the venues the lighting is fine for dinning but lousy for picture taking! Where have we heard that before? Anyway the last picture shows most of the room lighting. At least is fairly uniform but mixed colors. I use a D850 with an f2:8 and 24 to 70mm lens. I’ve set the camera to self-determine color temperature, F2:8, 1/200 shutter speed to more or less stop action but still show some and let camera determine iso. That runs from about 4000 to over 8000!. I also use continues focusing.
I’ve tried back button focusing but I prefer using the normal take it button holding it half way to hold focus. The time available between takes to refocus is nil. I will also take bursts of up to ten exposures.
For editing I use ACDSee then first crop/rotate, adjust exposure, reduce noise then sharpen and store as jpeg. I could wish for better sharpening but then the image is not always that good.

Image caught as she was twirling!
