Hi Kristen,
I used a hand held Nikon D4s on this shoot. The osprey had just picked up lunch and landed on a telephone pole about 70 yards away to dine. I got lucky.

I must have "sent the reply" to early. I'll resend photos.
The photos were hand held. The lens ( Nikon 200-500) is heavy, but not as heavy as the Nikon 200-400.
