I have a bunch of different 4/3 cameras and have bought third party batteries for all of them, no problem except one battery I left on charge far to long, the case swelled a little but still fitted in the camera. retired that one now since I don't use that camera so much. Since moving to the OMDEM 1.2 I discovered that the third party batteries have to be charged in the third party charger. I'm buying Olympus batteries for the OMDEM 1.2's because I like to carry the charger but don't want to carry two of them. It seems that we have a difference here between the technicians and the believers.

I too have had the book full of childhood illnesses, unpleasant too. There was no vaccinations except diphtheria which they gave me. Oh and lots of tetanus shots. Wish now there had been a chickenpox shot when I was a child, shingles it not much fun had the neuralgia for the past two years and expect it for the rest of my life. Get the vaccinations.

Doctors, are not Jesus or God, they cannot cure everything or raise the dead but mostly what they do is for our benefit. Get the vaccinations.

It is not true that most adults have been vaccinated--only those that reached adulthood after 1963. I'm 81 and don't think I was ever vaccinated for measles (don't know what USAF did to me 1960-1980 though), but I had all the different kinds of Measles when I was a kid. (And Whooping Cough and Mumps, too. Got the Mumps in school and broght them home and my dad nearly died with it.)

Agree that vaccinations should be done.

Voigtlnder make some very good lenses for m4/3 at f0.95 10.5mm, 17mm, 25mm, 42.5mm. To me the all appear to be sharp and really pull the light in, though I have read that there may be some distortion in the corners of the 10.5mm lens.

I plan to get a fast(ish) , wide angle lens for astrophotography. I have a Micro Four-Thirds DSLR. At the moment I am leaning towards the Sigma 16 mm f 1.4 but I have also heard good things about the Rokinon 12 mm 2.0 lens. They are both in my budget range.

Does anybody out there have experience with these lenses, or is there another lens that I should consider?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Be nice to have an app on my droid phone that did that, that requires the called to press # to get through.

About a month ago I needed a new phone system for my landline. AT&T had one with 3 or 4 options builtin to stop robo calls. I bought it and set up the option that requires the called to press # to get thur. It works perfect. All robo calls have been blocked 25 to 50 a day. The way it works is when the call comes in it rings 1 time and the machine then intercepts it and instructs the caller to push # on their phone. If that doesn't happen within a few seconds my phone hangs up. If the call is from someone that is in your directory (family members for example) the call passes straight thur.
The phone displays the called ID and keeps a record of the missed calls so that if someone were confused and did not get thru you can call them back. Hopefully I will have a year or 2 before the hackers figure out a work around or the government finds a method to stop robo calling. Of course I will probably be dead by then.

I'm with you, it is such an opportunity to practice one's skill with language and have fun with a real person. Sometimes you can get them so confused, I had one caller thank me for calling. Gradually making the call so ridiculous and sometimes outrageous. Making up entirely fictitious stories, the more often you do it the more you improve your own mind. It may even get your name/number removed from the call lists for wasting their time (time is money). And their reactions when the penny drops. Only had one who was abusive but mostly laughter when they realise they've been had. Go for it.

So many here are missing a great opportunity to turn the tables. When I get a live one I string him/her along with vague but ultimately absurd responses until they become so confused and frustrated they lose their cool and finally realize they have been had in reverse. If I could describe my methods better, I'd share them. But it just requires a great deal of spontaneous creativity and a willingness to put aside one's feelings about treating people decently, which is a hard thing to do until you realize that you are simply defending yourself from this scourge of privacy invasions and the contempt others hold for you which enables them to engage in this behavior in the first place.

Everyone who has invested in the dinosaurs Canon and Nikon just wait. Although some of you already know some of your lenses will not work well on the new mirror-less bodies even with the adaptors. These companies will no longer be making new lenses for the DSLR's Canon users who are old enough will remember what Canon did to their loyal users of the FD system. It's coming, you'll see it is cheaper to make mirror-less bodies and current DSLR's will disappear. I still have my large collection of FD lenses and still use them but not on Canon I now use Sony. Will never buy Canon.

Saw this on an Australian TV program, Paul Hogan making toast he says all you need is a nail on the wall and a plumbers blow torch. You stick the bread on the nail light the torch and have at it.

The best coffee I've had for a long time, bought the Gaggia Brera Super Automatic Espresso Machine put beans in top water in and brewed great coffee. There may be better but this with it's faults (drips water on the counter sometimes) is good enough for me.

Toaster science seems to have taken a step forward into the unreliable zone. I was going to say a step backward, but then realized I haven't had one I really liked until the last buy. We now have a Krups 2 slice that works pretty well, but like others went through 3 different brands of unhappiness, did similar with coffee makers till settling on our current Mr.Coffee Stainless Steel carafe model, like it too. We didn't go down the Pod path, never tasted a good cup from those, not anywhere close to our fresh ground fresh brewed happiness.

And they say trust the "Cloud".
I have my photos and music at least triple backed up. I've worked in IT too long. I'm still looking for another backup medium.

Lost or stolen, when it's out of your hands you have no idea what can happen.

I was planning for the future as well as being a tech junky so I bought this: Lenovo ThinkPad P51 15.6" 4K UHD Mobile Workstation Laptop PC (Intel i7 Quad Core, 32GB RAM, 512GB SSD, 15.6" UHD 3840x2160 Display, NVIDIA Quadro M2200M, Thunderbolt3 FingerPrint, Win 10 Pro). It even has an inbuilt screen calibrator. The only thing I would advise against is a 4k laptop screen, yes they display really nice images but all the menus are so small you have to use the windows 10 magnifier to read them because the software was built before 4k was common. I suppose you could use a hand held magnifier, I've done that. My desktop has a 40" 4k monitor same problem and same really good quality image both much more colour when you get good source material. I use photoshop CS5 on both, with a medium wacom pad, makes my laptop as good as the desktop.

Hi All:
Thanks for all the input. I was looking at the Acer swift 15.6 with the 4k monitor, SSD etc and the Dell xps series. I like the idea of using a bigger external monitor and saving money on the actual laptop that may not have as good a monitor as I am well used to a large monitor on my desktop.
I was hoping to keep it to about a thousand $ but now figure it will be a bit pricier. Maybe $13-1500.
RE MACs: I, actually my kids, have had 3 macbooks before (all now dead) and my husband does not like them because they are difficult to repair where as with the PC you can open it up and easily replace and upgrade parts. He is technical and likes to do such things.
Again thanks,

I like liver and onions when done well. Used to go to the Brandywine Diner until it closed down, they used to do great liver and onions. Times change.

I had to replace 120 foot of water line to my well a few years ago four foot deep. If I were laying an electrical cable I would definitely put it in conduit at any depth to be able to pull a replacement. I wish I could have been able to pull a replacement waterline, it's hard work digging even with a backhoe.

As far as fault finding I've always subscribed to the divide and concur approach also check out the easiest or cheapest parts first. That way there is less chance of wasting money. Another saying to add to your list is nothing lasts for ever. Pressure switches and breakers do fail quit often sometimes just out of the box.

Good luck.

GoldwingerTX wrote:
Why would the wiring need to be in conduit? If it is type UF you don't need to use conduit.
Like most of the posting on this site 95 percent of them should just read and keep their option to their self, as they don't know what they are talking about.
A ohm's meter will tell any Wiring problem that you have if used properly.
I have been a electric contractor for 42 years with anywhere from 8 to 10 men working for me, I think I would have some ideal of how to find the problem.

This was exactly the answer I was looking for, thank you, as long as noise isn’t an issue than the greater detail wrought by the denser sensor will be preferred! Thank you, I’ll keep the em1.1

You may like the OMD EM11 mk2 the stabilisation is awesome, I've hand held shots for seconds no blur. If you have a none 4/3 lens you like it's rendition buy an adaptor. I kept all my Canon FD lenses when I switched to Olympus. Got an adaptor and had fun. Now I have the full use of my FD lenses because I bought one of those sell off Sony a7 bodies. Now however I use my Oly's most often.

I used to travel a lot for business only used carry on baggage. Being from England I always have a warm rain proof jacket. I also recommend real silk underwear, it's cool when it's hot and warm when it's cold, it packs small and I believe it deters insects. I go along with the long sleeves and I'll add long trousers instead of shorts. Mariano wool for socks and sweaters, again warm and pack small. as always for cold, as well as for going from cold to warm use layers.
