I had a Zeikos grip for my Nikon D300 and loved it. Never had any problems. The grip you choose depends on what you are using it for. I was shooting weddings and concerts at the time and it was perfect. The thing to remember is if you are using it and depend on it for the job you are doing, you can purchase 3 of the Zeikos brand for the price of one OEM and have backups if anything was to go wrong. So if you "preach" the backup for everything, why not your grip?

That's a conflicting and disingenuous statement. First you say that it is not the gear but the photographer, for which I agree. Then you sell your Nikon in favor of the Olympus. Aren't you really saying, use the the gear necessary to get the job done? I have no idea what Nikon you sold, but perhaps it was 500, 200-400? Both of those lens would be inappropriate for weddings or an inside hotel shoot. The blanket statement,"I sold my Nikon equipment without details gives the impression, that the Oly was better than your Nikon. I think that is an over generalization. Photography is more specific than that.

Ok, let me give a bit more info. I was shooting both Nikon, a d7000 and d300 along with a 20mm 18-70, 20-35 and 80-200 AFS and Olympus, epl-2, 14-42 12-40pro, 40-150 R lens and em5. My nikon gear was stolen and all I had was the 80-200. I sold it as I found the Olympus gear did everything I needed it to do for the work I do. I rented the 7-14 pro lens. I do not believe I said anything about Olympus being better than Nikon, it was just better for what I shoot.

Sorry if you read more into it than what I was trying to say.

I have been a pro photographer for 34 years, 25 of that making all my income from photography. For the last nine years I have moved to shooting more video. I still shoot weddings, portraits and some commercial photography. Just did a job shooting rooms for a boutique hotel. I shot the hotel with my Olympus omd em5 and the 7-14 pro lens. The owners told me that when I walked in they were re-thinking there decision to hire me as I did not come in with bags and bags of camera gear as the last photographer did. I photographed everything in 2 days, about 2 hours each day. I sent the photos to them and a few days later I talked with them, there were very happy but were worried that the photos made the rooms look better than they really were! I did a few corrections and all was good. I agree with the statement that it is not so much the camera but the person behind the camera and there knowledge of post processing. I love my Olympus gear and am looking to get the em-1. I sold off all my Nikon gear but still use my Hasselblad film
gear.

I have one of the Flashpoint monolights, like this one, http://www.adorama.com/FP1220.html and have been very happy with it. Used it on a few weddings and portrait shoots. Works very well.

Look at a place called the darkroom and North coast photographic services. I have used North coast and was very pleased.

Photoman64, I agree with you. I am the same way. I do not post much here also, just for what you are saying. I try not to post much about "cheap" camera gear from a place that I have never seen before as it gets the comments you see here. It is hard for people to just say something kind but it is like they need to make you feel stupid. Try to take the bad comments and toss them in the trash and put the kind comments to good use. Keep up the good work and have a great day.

I have the adventure 6 and love it. Top and bottom compartments. Works just like a backpack. My first one was stolen, with my D300 and lens in it. Replaced it but now carry olympus omd-em5. You will love it.

I have my 12-40 pro lens on my EM-5 all the time. Just picked up the 40-150 4-5.6 and it is very nice also, light and compact. I also have the 14-42 kit lens that I have taken some great photos. The 12-40 is my favorite. If I could only have one, that would it.

I had both. I sold the d7000 and kept the d300. I did not like the AF on the d7000 and even after sending it in for the back focus problem and changing the settings, it still missed focus. The d300 never missed, and was perfect. I would keep the d300 and look for a d7100. I now have neither, sold the d7000 and my d300 was stolen. Now I shoot Olympus.

Good luck!

I photographed weddings for 25 years starting with a Hasselblad then Nikons now Olympus. All of these but the Olympus I had 2 bodies, 3 lens and double of everything, flash and such. I do not shoot weddings much anymore, 2-3 a year for friends and I use my Olympus EM5 and the 12-40 pro lens, one flash, my older EPL-2 and the 40-150 Olympus lens, that is it. The photos I take now with the Olympus works and sells just as well as when I shot Hasselblad and Nikon. Its what you know about weddings, people and how to keep clients in line, what to photograph that the client wants. You can have the top of the line camera setup but if you do not know your client and what they are looking for, it does you no good. Talk with them, learn there needs, go from there. Just an FYI, all my Hasselblad lens were F4 and above, so no fast lens, and this was with film. The fastest Nikon lens I used was f3.5. Hope this helps.

I moved from Nikon DSLR's to the Olympus EM-5. I am very happy with the camera. I have the Olympus 12-40 pro lens and feel I am taking better photos with this setup. Lighter, faster to me, and so much nicer to work with. I have done 30x40 canvas prints and love them. I have shot senior, family and weddings with this setup. I would love to have the EM-1 but am working more with video these days. I come from 25 years of full time wedding, family and senior work using Hasselblad and Nikon gear, just an FYI.

My digital cameras, various Nikon and Olympus cameras have come and gone. Staying with Olympus now, OMD EM-5 and enjoy it the most. But as the saying goes, " you will have to pry my Hasselblads from my cold dead hands."

So after a great deal of consideration with regards to buying my first DSLR, I have decided that for hiking, backpacking, travel and such, a nice, lightweight mirrorless camera might be the way to go after all. I'm looking at the Sony models, particularly the Sony a6000, but I am quite open to other suggestions. Would like to stay in the $500-$600 range, as much as possible, and go with interchangeable lenses and Wi-Fi. Any suggestions, oh fine and helpful citizens of the Ugly Hedgehog community? Still would like a nice DSLR some day , but it can wait.

I was in your place awhile back and wanted something that would give me the ability to make enlargements upto 30x40 of my backpacking trips. Carrying my DSLR's was not something I was looking forward to. I picked up the Olympus epl-2 and kit lens for a try. I loved it! The only draw back was it was not weather proof. I have now moved up to the OMD EM-5 and 12-40 pro lens and it is weather proof, camera and lens. I carry no bag, just camera and lens. It is the best camera I have used, well, next to my Hasselblads. Save some money and get one of the OMD cameras, you will not look back. I have sold off all my DSLR's and gone all in with Olympus.
