Does any one have the tamrac 5x 5585 or 5586. Backpack? If so how do you like it. And is the 5585 being discontinued. Thanks

I have the adventure 6 and love it. Top and bottom compartments. Works just like a backpack. My first one was stolen, with my D300 and lens in it. Replaced it but now carry olympus omd-em5. You will love it.

I do not, but I have several Tamrac products and they have been outstanding. My current go everywhere bag is a Velocity 8, and I still have a Tamrac 613 or similar from the mid 1980s that is as good as new. I'd trust the brand anywhere. Sad they have been acquired, but the new owners seem to be a good outfit.

You should be able to buy with confidence....

Tamrac has recently been bought out by Gura Gear, a high end camera bag company so what the future holds is anybody's guess.

They have incorporated the G Elite series into Tamrac and dropped the Gura name.

I don't see those models listed anywhere on their website.

I have the 5586. I really like it. It holds a lot and is easy to carry and load. I removed the waist belt as I do not use it for long trekking, but the belt is very easy to reattach. I have never had a problem after many years of use.

I don't know the model of mine but it is awesome and built rugged and has all kinds of room. It also has a good strap system built great. I would double recommend them.

I have three Tamrac cases one that goes way back into their early days. They wear like cast iron and give great service. The one backpack use as a day pack and it has not been treated very nice but continues to hold up to my demands. I would not trade any of them

I own a tarmac, sorry I don't know the model - it's discontinued anyway, but it's strong, light and very good for what I do.

Yes the Expedition 5x has been discontinued as are all the original Tamrac bags since Gura Gear bought them out. I am not sure I like them as much now

Did you like this pack and is it a decent size. Everyone has it for 99.00 which is not bad. Maybe this was the original price not sure.

I really do like the pack. You can haul a lot of gear. It is well made and can carry a full size tripod. The only negative is the depth. It is not very deep. It will not handle a pro body or one that has a battery pack on

I have the 5586 and it handles my 1DS III plus lenses without any problem.

Almost a ditto.
I also have the Velocity 8, 517, and a 608 for two slrs now dslrs. The 517 and 608 are from the 80s, and both are in good condition. I use the 517 for bike riding, with a neck strap and waist strap. The much newer Velocity 8, will hold two crop sensor cameras. One with a tele zoom in the middle, and a body in one side compartment, and another tele zoom in the other side compartment. A Speedlight goes in middle of the front pocket, up and down, plus you know the rest of accessories.
Love my Tamracs.
