Welcome. I have read all the suggestions. I think you will find a pattern. My suggestion also would be 2 bodies. The reason IF one of them malfunctions you have a back up. This may be your only trip to Alaska. I am not a birder and my only observation is the long lens in a group can be a little crowded. With that said the vastness of many locations would not be a problem.
The Wandering Bear
I know we have some Crusty Old Guys on this Site. Sometimes a little harsh on their reply's. With tears in my eyes may I suggest that you visualize many of the Hog's encircling you with their arms and support. If you will again adopt Us I know we will adopt you.
The Bear

Now I don't have to go to my Shrink any more!!! Great Advice. As most advice very simple in words but perhaps more difficult to achieve.
I am fortunate to live in San Diego. We have 2 very fine Camera stores here. They both have used camera equipment. some really good sales once a year. In addition one independent store has hundreds of lens's and bodies and makes. To show you what is available he had a Nikon with less that 100 snaps I think 40 for half price ( It had been a Christmas Gift) to someone who obviously was not interested photography.
SOOOO Clear and beautiful. I live in San Diego. We have weather But no real color in our birds.
What a capture. Timing is almost every thing. Right place right time.
Some of the BEST I have seen.
Refurbished and used cover a wide spectrum. At one Used camera store the owner showed me a camera he had just taken in with less than 20 frames shot. It had been a Christmas present.
I have one of my best photo is of a vacant bench. My heading would be The Stories it could tell.
SUPER REPLY. I think there was some guy named Edison who I think was self taught and he did not turn out so bad
