It's been a long time since I've been on here. Mostly it's just been too painful to try. My father gave me a love for photography when I was a very little girl. It's just something we did together. As I got better and move into the professional realm, he would send me messages, asking me my opinion, tell me about a photo he just took, talk about upcoming plans for photo journeys, tell me he just found an old camera at a pawn shop or garage sale, etc. It was him who told me about Ugly Hedgehog. As such, it's been too painful to come back here after his death in the early Summer of last year. I still catch myself thinking "I have to tell dad about this new lens (or whatever)". I just wanted you all to know, since he was a member for several years and he really loved being here. This is the picture I took of him in the rehab center, a few weeks before his passing due to complications of a stroke. It's also the only portrait he ever let me take and the only portrait that I have of him as an elderly adult.

I know this goes without saying, but I will anyway: you are ever-so-lucky to have had such a wonderful relationship with your father. I envy you. Those memories will warm your heart forever.
Welcome back.

Very sorry to hear this, he was always a great customer in my store, I was curious why I had not seen him since last spring.
I am sorry for your loss.

I know we have some Crusty Old Guys on this Site. Sometimes a little harsh on their reply's. With tears in my eyes may I suggest that you visualize many of the Hog's encircling you with their arms and support. If you will again adopt Us I know we will adopt you.

Thank you. He passed not too long after my husband and I came into your store and bought the cards, reflector, etc. We were there to catch him before the worse eventuality and I was lucky enough to get two trips in that three month period to see him. He thought so highly of you. He's the reason we came to your store. Dad talked about you so much that we just had to.

Your story and photograph of your father are both excellent. Every child should have a father who takes such an interest in their well being and movement into the world of some type of art. Thank you for sharing. You made my day.

Thank you for your kindness. I've been crying for the last hour in going through all of his posts, all of his photos, all of his responses. You guys didn't know him like I did so I can read so much more into the things he said. Today was the first time I have been able to look at the photo and spend time actually thinking about my dad. I miss him, terribly.

I have a picture of my Dad I took about a week before he died on a family picnic. I was 16 and that pic has not been out of my sight since 1968.

First I must say that I am deeply moved by your short story of your dad. Of course you will have a lifetime on great memories to keep him in your thoughts. Your story reminds me of my dad who I also miss terribly. He as a young man would shoot a 4x5 graphic and develop his film and print his photos in the bathroom. He always loved to take photos, videos and boor us half to death with his films :-)
Fast forward to my family, my daughter elected to take photojournalism in college, at the same time I was taking some photographic courses in Boston and we would go out together and do photo shoot. I miss that time in my life. Thank you for bringing back those moments. BTW the photo of your dad is awesome...
