I guess it could happen either way.
I bought the Blackrapid sling and it has work well except for one thing: the protective screw guard that keeps the snap attacher mechanism closed while you have the camera attached to strap.
That guard will come loose and work it's way down if you don't tighten it on much more than you think needed.
That happened to me. The guard worked loose, worked it's way down the shaft of the snap-on mechanism, than somehow, when I bent over the snap-on hit against my side and opened.
Murphy's Law hit again. The attach snap opened inward (which it's not supposed to do on its own), the camera came detached, and the whole shootin' match fell about three ft to the ground. LENS END FIRST! Camera seems OK but $591 to repair my Nikon 24-70, 2.8. OUCH!
Now, strap rule #1: Check, and continually check, the screw-up guard to make sure the Black Rapid dual-fault tolerant snap-on attachment hook isn't compromised.

Oops, I meant Cokin A format
I realized that also. most of the filters are for 52mm. That was why I wondered if there is an adapter that would work for pixs that I want to crop. But your idea of PP is the best. I haven't used that much so look forward to experimenting with it.

Not used Cokin filters since the 80's myself on my T90's but I have been looking at using filters recently, however I am only looking at using ND graduated filters and possibly a graduated tobacco filter for bringing out clouds in landscapes.
I tended to over use them in order to produce "arty" effects but it was a good learning process. I copied a few wedding photos with a heart shaped vignette and they did transform some rather mediocre shots. Starbursts could also raise a number of shots when shooting motorcycles with lots of chrome highlights. Today a number of effects can be done with more control in photoshop. The main thing to remember is that as these effects are done in camera, you are pretty much stuck with the effect, although with digital you can review the end result immediately to see what works and what doesn't.
I would encourage you to experiment, as digital is a lot cheaper than film and with the results being available straightaway you will be able to gauge the results whether to continue with this aspect of photography, if it improves your shooting then go for it.

Thanks, Carl: Good ideas that I can incorp in my process.
Thanks, are there adapters to wed the filter holder to a 24-70 or larger (70-200)
Had mine almost two yrs. My walk-around lens. Using on D90 until I go FF. I love it. The kit lens 18-105, 3.5 that came with the camera was pretty good, but the difference between it and 24-70 is night and day. One of best choices I've ever made.
I just found some old cokins I've had since the 80s (used w/ Minolta x-700) and wondered if anyone has/is using them with their digital camera.
I know. There have been some stories about probs with Flash...someone captured it and was floating malware/virus. Thank goodness my malware/virus SW saved me from downloading it. But it still pops up every day when I open the first UHH email.
Everytime I open an UHH email, it defaults to this website and asks me to update my flash software. I tried that the first time and my virus SW protector interrupted, came up and said NO NO! Don't do it.
Does anyone have the story on this? Is it a legit upgrade or not?
I've used costco refills for several years and not had the problems that MT Shooter shows in the example pixs. I buy the OEM at costco and refill once. I was warned that refilling them more than one could lead to problems with the cart in the printer. I had reused some more than once and not had any probs, but have listened to the advice to be on the safe side.
Haven't noticed any significant color fade probs unless the pixs were put in the sun for a period of time, but doesn't that happen to everything in the sun?
That worked fine. there are some features of PSE 11 I don't like (mostly in color control) and wanted to be able to go from RAW to CS3 when desired. This now lets me convert to DNG before editing, save and then open in CS3 to complete the process. Thanks for the info.
Thanks, another great idea. The power of a collaborative internet.
I seldom use the Nikon SW; I'll try it. Thanks again.
