Has anyone used Costco's refill ink cartridge service? If yes, is it any good?

I have a HP printer I buy Office Max or Office Depot ink cartridges in place of the brand names ones and I wait until they have a 20% coupon.

I use the 79 series Epson ink for my Artison 1430. If there is a cartridge on the shelf, it probably will not work without changing the clip. I will feel more comfortable getting the cartridge I bring in to get refilled.

Funny you bring up Costco refills specifically. 13 months ago I printed the same pic on the same paper with the same printer, and hung them side x side in my store. Only difference was that the one on the right was printed with HP factory brand inks, and the one on the left was printed with Costco refill inks in Factory HP cartridges. See any difference?

A picture is worth a thousand words! And in this case one is sufficient. Stay with "OEM" products.

I had an HP printer a while back. Refills on their cartridges simply don't work. Obviously in the image above, the green is not printing. I tried several times, got free exchanges when some didn't work. The free exchanges didn't work either. HP has the print heads built into the cartridges. That's why the HP ones are so expensive. I suspect they build heads that are made to last a little longer than the supply of ink in the cartridge. Refill them and the head stops printing!

The ones at Office Depot or Office Max I think are remanufactured they don't show ink level if the software of the HP printer has been updated but I have used my 3rd set without problems at about 40% of the cost.

"Green" is not an inkjet printer color. They use Cyan (Blue), Magenta, and Yellow for color and usually a separate Black cartridge for blacks and greys. Better printers use more cartridges for different shades but they all mix yellow and cyan to get their varying shades of green.
The green in the left picture was just as true as the green in the right picture when these were printed. What you see is the level of color fade with the cheap inks compared to the genuine inks.

In the past if you were using third party ink in a HP printer it would void the warranty. In my past experience the price of the OEM ink is well worth the alternative.

I was surprised that MTShooter would make the conclusion!! Perhaps POed based on having problems with the cart... first try, MT?

BULL ! This photo show that the yellow cart is not working. So Richard you are drawing a universal conclusion based on one cart in one printer. INVALID CONCLUSION.... Easily followed by UHH sheep who refuse to think clearly.

If indeed all secondary, non OEM, suppliers produced prints like this, then there would be no secondary markets.

I have use CIS, Continuous Ink Supply, tank ink for 5 years. The only problem is that which I cause my self by not using the printer for a month. Placing the cart on a pad of alcohol over night clears that.

The CIS or Non OEM approach saves the consumer a great deal of money.

aaaa, yes, The next argument is that non OEM ink fades in UV. OK?? Most do not use "Black Light" and glow in the dark furniture in their homes. There is very little UV in the living rooms... Florida roof, sure, but not in the home. Ordinary glass passes little! Ozone, perhaps some. Nothing magic or expensive to add UV stabilizers to inks; not much used and low cost.

There are some high quality inks for CIS...
