Ronwande, if green is not an ink-jet color, why does my Canon printer have a a GREEN ink cartage?

Has anyone used Costco's refill ink cartridge service? If yes, is it any good?

Well, as long as we're on the topic of Costco I'm wondering if anyone has ever used Costco photo paper? I see that they sell 300 of the 4"x6" paper for just under $15.00. This is much cheaper than anyone else. I always heard "you get what you pay for". This is their own brand (Kirkland) and I am impressed with the quality of some of the other products they sell I'm not sure about the photo paper. Thanks for your opinions.

You spend all your time and effort not counting money on your equipment buy a good printer and then gamble that you get the best picture you can by buying cheep ink?

Do you return the empties for credit? I do that at Staples, and they add up.

"Green" is not an inkjet printer color. They use Cyan (Blue), Magenta, and Yellow for color and usually a separate Black cartridge for blacks and greys. Better printers use more cartridges for different shades but they all mix yellow and cyan to get their varying shades of green.
The green in the left picture was just as true as the green in the right picture when these were printed. What you see is the level of color fade with the cheap inks compared to the genuine inks.

Have seen similar fading on some older (12-14 years) with prints I made with a dye printer, some dyes fade faster than others. I now use a pigment printer. Have been using Cone Inks for over two years in refillable carts, beautiful prints and have cut ink costs dramatically. Not all inks are the same.

I have Epson printers and only use Epson products and have never had a problem. I buy my printers and inks at ATLEX.COM they are cheaper there.

Yes...
I don't print pics at home, only documents.
The Costco refills do not work well.
They leak and smudge. I returned it.

I stopped in Office Depot a couple of weeks ago and was told they no longer carry their own brand of cartridges - OEM stuff only. I don't know if that was a local decision or system-wide.

I was too Costco yesterday to inquire about refills since in the past they told me that I needed an old cartridge to make the printer recognize which cartridge it was... but yesterday, my local costco told me that about a month ago, they started replacing the chip on the cartridge so that their is no longer any issue with recognition of the cartridge... I am going in this week with my cartridges to have them all refilled.

BULL ! This photo show that the yellow cart is not working. So Richard you are drawing a universal conclusion based on one cart in one printer. INVALID CONCLUSION.... Easily followed by UHH sheep who refuse to think clearly.

If indeed all secondary, non OEM, suppliers produced prints like this, then there would be no secondary markets.

I have use CIS, Continuous Ink Supply, tank ink for 5 years. The only problem is that which I cause my self by not using the printer for a month. Placing the cart on a pad of alcohol over night clears that.

The CIS or Non OEM approach saves the consumer a great deal of money.

aaaa, yes, The next argument is that non OEM ink fades in UV. OK?? Most do not use "Black Light" and glow in the dark furniture in their homes. There is very little UV in the living rooms... Florida roof, sure, but not in the home. Ordinary glass passes little! Ozone, perhaps some. Nothing magic or expensive to add UV stabilizers to inks; not much used and low cost.

There are some high quality inks for CIS...

Sir I don't wish to have a pissing match with you but I have used after market inks for a number of years and I not been satisfied with any of them in the long run at all, the quality was so up and down I found it was a waste of my money not to mention those producers of crappie service and poor QC on their ink I had to stop plain and simple! I have only once had a bad ink cartridge from HP which they promptly replaced overnight to me now that's service. But I have no problems with you spending your money on your after market inks, if you are happy and satisfied that's you're business I don't care!

Like all these things some are better than others.

We use Epson printers and originally Epson ink. Later we switched a couple of printers (R2880 and R3880) to continuous ink as we were getting fed up with the frequency with which cartridges had to be replaced. We made a careful study over a period of months and settled on one supplier on the basis of the colour quality and the somewhat astonishing (75%) saving on cost per print.

One point; nearly all low end printers are sold well below manufacture cost, the manufacturers recouping by charging excessively for the cartridges. I have seen situations where it is cheaper to replace the printer with the same model than buy new cartridges. Some time ago I saw something about the EU trade police having a look at this but whether anything came of it I don't know.
