Topaz is not free, all of their plug-ins have a price for them. I have a number of the plug-ins, but I only purchase them when they go on sale. The plug-ins are easy to use, also Topaz has weekly tutorials on how to use the different plug-ins which are free to watch. Give Topaz a try.

First off you DO NOT want to short change yourself, go with the best of the best, for the price range you can afford. I have the Wimberley WH-200, I upgraded from the WH-100. Never had a problem with either one. This head works flawlessly with my D810 with a 1.4x TC and my Nikon 200-400 lens. I have a number of friends who also use the WH-200 head. There is one friend who uses the Wimberley sidekick head, and he has the same setup as I do and he has never had an issue. Good Luck

If you are looking for good gimbal head, you want the best. Look for a Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal Head II, go to B&H, Adorama, or Wimberley website. You can find some used ones on eBay. This head is one of the high end type of gimbal heads. Most of the pros use this head.

One more thing, no mater which gimbal head you purchase, there is a correct way to balance your camera and lens mounted to the gimbal head. Here is a website showing how to do this:

Good luck

Adorama is as good as B&H and KEH for your photography equipment. One thing to take note, all of these company's are now charging sales tax.

Canon PXMIA Pro-10, I have owned this printer for over three years with never an issue. The printer works flawless. I purchase replacement ink from either B&H or Canon. If you are not in a hurry watch for Canon prints to go on sale, you can get great deal. I got two large packs of paper and the printer was less then 50% along with a mail in coupon.

Here is something I use in cold weather. Hand and foot warmers that you can purchase from Amazon or even Costco. The hand warmers you can tuck inside your gloves or keep them in a coat pocket. Hand warmers are also good to help keep your extra batteries from getting cold, but make sure the warmers are not right up against the batteries by keeping something like a extra glove with the warmer in it then you can place the warmers next to the batterers.

I have done this in the past, I was a sports photographer for over 18yrs. First off, you will not need the mono pod or a flash. Flash is a no no, it can blind the players when playing. You want to go to the event early, walk up and down the field during practice, checking WB, increase your ISO to stop action and this will be your setting. No need for a Tele converter. I made enough money doing this to put two of my kids through collage and also paid for their weddings. There is good money in this type of photography. Enjoy

What ever you do, do not go cheep you will regret it. Go to youtube to check on tripod reviews. You will not go wrong with a "Gitzo" yes they are costly but it will be the last and only tripod you will ever own.

Yes there are clubs as note from the previse reply. In Gig Harbor there is Sound Exposure Photo Club (SEPC), we meet once a month at the GH Library. Sorry SEPC does not have a website but you can send an email to sepc@comcast.net and you will get help/information about the club. There are other clubs in the area, TPS Tacoma Photographic society, one in Silverdale, Bremerton, and Olympia. I am sure you can find websites for those I just listed. If you need more help contact me at nikondoug@yahoo.com

You can't go wrong with Canon printers. I purchased the PIXMA Pro 10 because of the out standing B&W printing. When I purchased the printer I paid less then $200, it came with free 13x19 and 8x10 paper. The ink is less expensive then Epson inks. I belong to a photo club, and there are now 4 members using the same print as I have. I always keep a complete set of backup inks. I only purchase my inks from Canon because they will send you free paper with your order. Good luck on your decision.

This is a process that a DIY person can do. If you are looking to save $$, check out Costco photo department. Also you want to make sure your image has a good amount of contrast.

Hello HOG members.

My wife and I have become addicted to chasing the Orca whales around Puget Sound these days. The most beautiful thing I have seen in a long while. My problem is I only have a 55/250 canon lense on my EOS t2i. I most certainly need more power to get better shots from long distance. I am not going to change the camera just want a lense to reach out and touch those wonderful creatures.

I know there are many members that can help me upgrade my lense for this. Any and all suggestion are welcome.

Thank you in advance for all your assistance.

I have a number of Canon friends and they enjoy using their 100-400mm lens. Look for a used one.
