Thanks to all for your comments and input. I appreciate your opinions.
What software program did you use? Yes, it is way cool!
Yeah, I saw one picking on a Bald Eagle last week.
While driving around the local lake, I noticed some flying insects that the evening sun's reflected light appeared to make them glow. Naturally I jumped out of my car and tried to capture the image. I failed miserably. The photos were not at all what I was trying to show. So, the next evening the conditions were similar and I tried again, using my 70-300 mm zoom to get in closer. Better, but still not what I envisioned. After thinking about it for a while, I went back a third time, setting up the camera and lens on my tripod, increased the DOF so there was a better background and started snapping away. Returning home, I used a Star Tracking software to stack 9 (out of 267) of the images to achieve my original concept. The whole process taught me think about what I was trying to do and how to achieve it.

I use the optech hand strap recommended by MT Shooter. I have used it for several years (at least 5 but probably longer) and have never felt my camera and lenses were at risk.
WELL STATED Sierracoyote! It drives me nuts when they muck it up just to show off.
Thanks, Shakey. I have been struggling trying to teach myself GIMP which is frustrating - your tutorials are a godsend!
Absolutely - nicely captured!
I have the Composer and use it, mostly for when I am looking for a particular effect. I enjoy using it but don't think I have fully explored it's capabilities. So many ideas so little time!
Or you could switch to manual focus and adjust as the person approaches.
Nephew's kids' Tball game. I like it because it is a departure from my usual "take a picture of the kid swinging the bat and hitting the ball".

I've been trying to post a few photos all morning without success. Will try one more time with just one photo.
