There are many out there that are average photographers, that do quite well simply because they know how to market their product well. Many times the customer thinks the best photo is the one you as a photographer would probably consider throwing on the scrap heap. The talent to make the most from what you have in equipment helps , but in the end it seems to come down to the ability to market.

Just want to thank you all for your input on Gnd filters. All your suggestions were appreciated. I do believe I am going for the Lee filters only because I don't want to upgrade later. My understanding would be a soft #6 would be a good start for me. Please advise if I am out in left field. Thanks

For someone that has tried both, what would be the noticeable difference between the two?. Does the difference justify the price of the more expensive one. I have no experience with these type of filters.
Thanks

Thank you. I looked at Lee but they are a little to expensive for me. unless I start with one and build from there:-)

Cokin will do a decent job for you, but it is the old saying, you get what you pay for. You state you are interested in the 'pro set', which indicates you have quality lenses. If that is the case, you want the best.
Take a look at Lee Filters, they are regarded as the best. They are hand made and they are expensive.
I started out with Cokin, but soon moved the LEE Filters for my Leica lenses.
Others are 'Hitech', 'Tiffen' (American), 'Kood' to name but a few.
Graduated filters come in 'Hard or Soft' so you need to decide what you require them for IE 'Landscape'
Hope this is of some use.

I am thinking of buying a set of Cokin grad filters, probably the Z pro set. I do a lot of wide angle landscape photography so would welcome any input concerning these filters before I spend the $320. for the kit..

Each one is rated but most users seem to upgrade their cameras long before the sensors go. I can not remember anyone telling me they replaced theirs but I am sure that happens especially in the more expensive models as they do not replace them as often.

Thanks for all the kind comments. I am quite happy with my piece of crap. It is a long way from the Nikormats i used many years ago albeit they were simpler and probably more reliable. The only reason I chose Nikon was because I had some lens left over from my film days which i till use occasionally. Had I had Canon lens left over and could use them I likely would have used Canon as I view a camera as a tool rather than a photo maker..

No this was an individual that just received a brand new top of the line Canon through his insurance company. I just thought he was rather rude considering his last two cameras were gifts of the insurance company and I saved long and hard for mine:-)

I was recently told by a Canon user that my camera (nikon D700 was crap and that Nikon was going down the toilet. No doubt my feelings were hurt considering I have top notch equipmentI was upset because I would never say that about any camera, even and old box camera because I have always believed it is the photographer not the camera that makes the picture. Tell me I am wrong

When I use manual it makes m think I am smarter than the camera, which of course is not true. I use it both ways depending on how I feel
